Dear Saint Family,
We have entered the Season of Lent!
Throughout these forty days leading up to Easter, I encourage you to choose a spiritual discipline and practice it each day. It could be reading a passage of Scripture each morning or night before going to sleep, or reciting the Lord’s Prayer on the hour from 7am to 7pm daily. It could be starting a gratitude journal, and writing something you are thankful for each day, or it could be praying over everything you eat, no matter how small an amount, along with fasting each Wednesday until 1:00pm. It could also be writing a note to a different person each day, letting them know you are grateful for them or offering a word of cheer.
Whatever you chose, if you are intentional to practice it daily, you will be amazed at the end of the forty days how much it has shaped your life, and how much you have grown in your spiritual formation because of it. Yes, at some point throughout the period you might forget to practice your discipline on a given day, but do not loose heart and stop, simply pick up where you left off the next day. There is too much to gain for you to stop because you missed a day, and there is nothing to lose if you continue.
Our Lenten theme is Stay Focused, and I hope you will stay focused on things of the Kingdom of God, and on Christ, our Lord, during this time.
I pray you will observe a Holy Lent.
God’s peace-filled presence,
Pastor Carolyn.
