In Tokyo, the cherry blossoms have started to bloom, marking the start of spring in Japan's capital. Upon visiting a Somei-yoshino cherry tree at Tokyo's Yasukuni Shrine, officials from the Meteorological Agency announced on March 20 that cherry blossom season had officially begun.
Weather reports across Japan are now including cherry blossom forecasts to help viewers plan their blossom viewing parties and scenic picnics. Those of you who are in the capital of the United States can also enjoy this quintessentially Japanese experience as the cherry blossom trees are now in full bloom in Washington D.C. as well. Wherever you are, we wish you a safe, healthy and rejuvenating start of a new season.
