Church & Alumni Spotlight

In August of 2023, Jay Wentworth (2021 Alumnus) became the lead pastor at Spirit Alive Wesleyan Church in Yakima, Washington. Over the last year, Jay has also felt God calling him to write a book about the Christian community and is excited to see what God has in store for himself and his wife Karla. There have been many challenges over the last thirteen years, and it has been far from an easy journey, but Jay attests that his life now is infinitely better than anything he could have imagined. A Senior Pastor of Resurrection Life NYC

Jenn Petersen (2020 Alumna) has over 20 years of pastoral ministry experience serving in a variety of areas. In 2017, Jenn and her husband Branden planted Resurrection Life NYC, a multi-ethnic congregation on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Together the Petersens co-pastor the church, guiding the congregation towards Christ in all areas. While there’s no way to know what the future might hold, Jenn and Branden intend to faithfully and obediently follow wherever God may call them. Read her full story HERE.

Growing at IWU


Christy Van Steenburg (1999 Alumna) arrived at IWU as a second-generation student. Both of her parents graduated from Marion College (pre-Indiana Wesleyan University), and so she was proud to be following in their footsteps. From her time at IWU to her efforts in the classroom to her work on the mission field for seven years to her current role as a Regional Mobilizer for Global Partners’ Resource Team, Christy feels that God has led her through many experiences that have refined and grown her. Part-Time Worship Leader at Pine Hills Auburn in Auburn, Indiana


This role has the potential to grow into a full-time position as the church expands. The position requires a commitment of 15-20 hours per week, which will include:

  • Preparing and leading worship services
  • Connecting with the current worship team
  • Leading rehearsals (currently on Sunday mornings prior to service)
  • Exploring and implementing technological advancements to enhance worship

Part-Time Lead Pastor at Bainbridge Christian Church in Bainbridge, Indiana


We are seeking a dynamic, personable Lead Pastor to shepherd our Restoration Movement Church. The ideal candidate will have a heart for pastoral care, strong leadership skills, and a passion for teaching and guiding our congregation. This position will start as a part-time position with hopes of growing into a full-time position
