WE DID IT! ST. LUKE'S IS 100 DAYS SMARTER!

We made it 100 SUPER days at St. Luke's! We've spent 100 days together as a school family. We've spent 100 days with the best teachers. You've spent 100 days at a school that loves EACH of you!

The Japonica campus had many, many fun activities to celebrate our 100th day day of school!

WILL HATAWAY ACHIEVED RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT

Congratulations to senior, Will Hataway for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout following his Board of Review on January 20th! He built a playground fort at Knollwood Christian Academy for his Eagle Scout project.

Becoming an Eagle Scout is the highest honor that a scout may achieve and is obtained from many years of dedicated effort and the successful completion of a long process that started years ago when Will became a Boy Scout. It is a demonstration of how people, working together, can truly help mold young men with a solid sense of leadership, citizenship, and responsibility. Not every boy, nor every Scout, qualifies for the high rank of Eagle. In fact, only 4% of Scouts have earned this rank after a lengthy review process.

We are incredibly proud of you, Will!

JAPONICA CAMPUS THANKS THE FINE & PERFORMING ARTS BOOSTER CLUB!

This week, St. Luke's students attended the Mobile Symphony Orchestra's Young People's Concert, "When Instruments Roamed the Earth." This art experience at the Saenger Theater was entirely funded by the St. Luke's Fine and Performing Arts Booster Club.

BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT ULTRASOUNDS

Did you know our Biomedical Science Lab has an ultrasound machine? Recently, The Fundamentals II class got to put the ultrasound machine to great use thanks to Greg Yeager (Rowan's Daddy)! Mr. Yeager arranged for Brandi Harnish, RDMS, RVT from USA Health's free-standing ER, to demonstrate the machine and discuss its many uses in the medical field. The students watched ultrasounds of the knee, calf, thyroid, kidney, and liver. How many students in high school get this type of hands-on experience?

BIOMED STUDENTS GET FULL COAST GUARD EXPERIENCE

St. Luke’s Fundamentals Biomed classes had an awesome day at the US Coast Guard Aviation Training Center. Our students got the grand tour through the general health care clinic where they learned about EKG’s, PFT’s, hearing and eye tests. Lieutenant Dan Lindner also talked to them about the many healthcare careers available within the Coast Guard. Lieutenant Banning Lobmeyer discussed the many benefits of Coast Guard careers as well as the opportunities that exist by attending the Coast Guard Academy. He also gave us a tour of the HC-144 aircraft. The students had the opportunity to enjoy the MH-60, MH-65 and HC-144 simulators before touring the MH-60, MH-65, and HC-144 aircraft.

JAPONICA STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT THE EAR

Japonica students learned about the ear - hearing, parts of the ear, and sign language.

But to those who have not, we need YOUR help! Every gift makes an impact, no matter the size. The higher our participation percentages, the better the chance we have of receiving funding.

SAVE THE DATE - BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES BLOOD DRIVE

St. Luke's knows the importance of donating blood! In celebration of National Blood Donor Month, we want to remind you of the life-saving impact of blood donors! For every pint of blood donated, the potential is there to save 3 lives! Millions of people including cancer patients, organ recipients, and victims of accidents rely on blood donations from people like YOU!

St. Luke's Biomedical Sciences Department will be hosting our annual Blood Drive on March 15th. We hope you will join us and help us beat our previous blood donation record! More information coming soon!
