MITTEN TREE, PANDEMIC STYLE II
|
|
Give a gift of warmth. The annual Mitten Tree is always a fun way to donate mittens, gloves, hats, and scarves to keep people warm. This year Team D will coordinate a “Remote Mitten Tree” December 1-19. Instead of collecting the gifts of warmth at the church only on one Sunday your donations can be dropped off in bins (or ring the bell) at Lynn Wiley’s home in Urbana (606 W. Washington St.) or Anne Sharpe’s home in Champaign (2209 Galen Dr.). READ MORE

Rev. Sally Fritsche
Sunday, December 5 at 10:15 a.m. via Livestream
Join us this Sunday to reflect on how we make difficult decisions, and whether taking the road less traveled truly does make all the difference. Rev Sally will lead us in finding a new perspective on the classic Robert Frost poem, “The Road Not Taken,” and together we’ll search for clarity and boldness on the difficult choices we face in our own lives.

Rev Karen Bush
Sunday, December 12 at 10:15 a.m. via Livestream
I was in my early 20’s and a ministerial intern for a summer in central Wisconsin when I first came in contact with a handful of extraordinary centenarians who graciously invited me to sit with them a while, one on one, on many an afternoon, to listen to their stories.
I would come away from each time together in awe of how much they each had seen and lived and had come to understand about being alive. About being human. About life itself.
I had a few core (for me ) questions that I would ask each one of them.
Especially … about living and dying.
Though these individuals had never met, their answers were uncannily similar and have stayed with me... like a calming hand on my shoulder… through the years.
On Sunday December 12 please join me in the live streamed service of UUCUC as together, with the help of the thoughts of those who once lived over 100 years and others whose poetry has inspired over the centuries, we examine … the secret of a life well lived.

UPCOMING MEETINGS, CLASSES & EVENTS

In these uncertain times, it is more important than ever to continue the practices that support our well-being and strengthen our community. With this in mind, the Sunday morning mindfulness group has moved online to Zoom.

From Priscilla Kron: Joy for seeing our Boston family for Thanksgiving after too long; however following dinner Jerry took a tumble on the stairway. He cracked 3 ribs, got a gash on his forehead, and suffered a broken left wrist. Grateful for great care and an A+ surgeon at Beth Israel Hospital.
From Scott Rohde: Remembering Justus Rosenberg who died earlier this month at age 100 and who, as a teenager, helped an earlier generation of refugees make their way out of danger.
From Marilyn Ryan: I wish my darling Umeeta a very happy birthday today. Thank you for teaching me about life as an immigrant in our United States.
