Congratulations Escondido! Your support and attendance to the Grand Avenue Festival this past Sunday made for a great event! The streets of downtown were alive with many new visitors to our City commenting about how much they enjoyed the day. After a 2-year pandemic induced hiatus the street faire drew raves from attendee’s and a great time was had by all.

Thank you to all the volunteers, board members, City and Chamber staff and all who attended!

Last evening, I attended a meeting of the Homeless Community Advisory Group at City Hall. This is a group of engaged Escondidans put together by the city in an effort to address our homeless population. The City gave a presentation on their current efforts to deal with the issue. They also presented actionable steps property and business owners can take now to help ease this problem. Here is a link to a guide the city had prepared for use. The last part of the meeting was devoted to getting feedback from attendees. Much of the feedback was very specific to instances businesses have had to deal with regarding the homeless. But we need to hear from more businesses. It is a rare day that we here at the Chamber do not hear from our business community regarding the homeless issue interfering with their ability to conduct business. So in the next couple of weeks the Chamber through our Economic Development Committee is going to schedule a meeting open to any and all businesses in Escondido to meet and we’ll invite the City to come present and get feedback on the issue. Stay tuned.

There are things you can do as a business here in Escondido in dealing with homelessness. One of the first things is to read the City’s Business Homeless Resource Guide and file a 602-waiver form with the City. This form allows City authorities to enforce trespassing and loitering laws and can be found at this link

Let’s all work together to help find solutions to the growing homeless issue.

The holiday shopping season is now based on all the blockchain supply issues we’ve heard about. Now more than ever early holiday shopping will yield the best chance of getting what you want.

66 days and counting until Christmas!

A Salute To Agriculture
At the San Diego County Farm Bureau’s annual celebration, I was proud to present Ken Altman with an Assembly Resolution honoring him as "Farmer of the Year". As owner of Altman Plants, the largest nursery in the United States, located right here in the 75th Assembly District, Ken has been active in California agriculture for decades. He
represents the best of San Diego agriculture. His service includes...
