GREAT JOB AQUIDNECK FAMILIES

with the first few days of drop off and pick ups!!!!

Just a few reminders

  • During the morning drop off, please drive all the way down to the stop sign, so we can fit in as many cards as possible.  If you need more time, please use the parking lot.
  • Students will not be exiting the building until 2:50 this year.
  • All students should be picked up before 3:00.
  • If you and your child need extra time, please park in the Parking Lot. Staff will bring your child to the Parking Lot. Please let the staff know that you are going to the lot so that we can mark it down on our sheet.
  • Parents of walkers should wait on the sidewalk near parking lot and across from door B.  Please let staff know who you are picking up and a staff member will bring your child to you.

Drop Off & Pick Up Procedure Video

To our Aquidneck Families

Did you know that we are required by law to have

15 practice drills a year?

We take our drills very seriously.

We are prepared, not scared.

We will have our first fire drill this week.

We will also have our first lockdown this month.

Students and staff are reviewing all safety procedures.

Our DRILL requirements for the year:

11 Fire drills (at least one per month)

2 Lockdown Drills

2 Evacuation Drills

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Our teachers are working hard preparing our students

for all types of drills

In accordance with state law (§16-21-4, §16-21-5), all schools (public and nonpublic) in Rhode Island are required to perform 15 emergency drills that include fire, lockdown, and evacuation drills. At least one drill shall be conducted each month, and at least one out of every four must be obstructed drills. As part of the required 15 emergency drills, each school must conduct two evacuation drills and two lockdown drills. One lockdown drill shall occur in September and one in January.

A. L. I. C. E. stands for

ALERT, LOCKDOWN, INFORM, COUNTER, EVACUATE.

We have begun talking to students about what these words mean and what to do if there is ever a

"dangerous someone" in our school.

All Lockdown and ALICE drills are conducted in coordination with the Middletown Police Department.

We use the following book in all classrooms to introduce this concept.

 I'm not scared, I'm prepared...because I know about ALICE.

Aquidneck's Policy on

Birthday Celebrations

We feel every birthday is special, in keeping our wellness policy; we would like to celebrate your child’s special day without sugary snacks!  Here are some options:

  • Send in a non-food item - stickers, pencils, erasers, etc.
  • Donate a book to the class in honor of your child's birthday. On your child's special day a member of his/her family may come in and read that book to the class.
  • All Birthdays are announced on the morning announcements.

OUR INVITATION POLICY-

If you would like to distribute birthday invitations in school, please include ALL students, ALL boys or ALL girls. If you are only sending a few invitations out, please mail them
