Crews will demolish the concrete barrier along both sides of the SR-55 bridge over Dyer Road to accommodate the freeway improvements. This activity will take approximately three weeks to complete.

Monday, Dec. 16 through Thursday, Dec. 19, the following closures are scheduled nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

• Full closure on westbound Dyer Road under the freeway
• Two inside lanes on eastbound Dyer Road under the freeway
• Two outside lanes in both directions of the freeway at Dyer Road

The outside lane of eastbound Dyer Road as well as the loop on-ramp to northbound SR-55 will remain open.

Friday, Dec. 20 through Friday, Dec. 27*, nighttime closures are scheduled from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

• Eastbound and westbound Dyer Road under the freeway 
• Northbound SR-55 Dyer Road loop on-ramp
• Two outside lanes in both directions of the freeway at Dyer Road

*In observance of the Christmas holiday, there will be no closures Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25. Construction activities will resume on Thursday, Dec. 26.

An extended closure of the MacArthur Boulevard straight on-ramp to northbound SR-55 is underway as contractors work to reconstruct the ramp. This week, crews completed removal of the existing ramp, as well as installed electrical crossings and drainage systems along the ramp.

During the week of Dec. 16, contractors plan to place concrete barriers and stripe the on-ramp. The ramp is expected to reopen by 5 a.m., Friday, Dec. 20. We appreciate the public’s patience while contractors complete the work at the ramp.

This work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
