At worship services on Nov. 5 & 6 we will have a slideshow of people who have passed into the arms of Jesus over the last year. If you have a loved one that you would like added to this list please send the full name, dates and a picture to info@poplc.org. If you need help with this Tiffany is happy to help.

Envision News

“There is something special about this place.”

“I can feel the presence of God here.”

“May I sit here for a while – this is the only place I can find peace.”

We hear these things often here in the office. Even from those who are not yet believers that know there is something they can feel when they walk through the door. There is indeed something special about Prince of Peace. On October 16, we came together to celebrate how God has made this place, our congregation, our part of the Body of Christ special. We discovered core values that are evidence of His presence:

  • We know the Grace of His Gospel
  • We are led by the Spirit
  • We believe that the Bible is His Word
  • We are consistent in teaching
  • We are a welcoming congregation
  • We are quick to meet the needs of our congregation and community
  • We value worship and music

God has come and made His place here in response to our obedience. He has changed lives, changed hearts, and filled this place with His grace and peace. We give thanks to God for His tender loving care. We rejoice that His presence is what makes Prince of Peace a haven, a safe place, a place of recovery. As we continue in obedience, we are excited about what the future will bring as we follow His direction.

Look for more news next week when we will introduce the initiatives and leaders that were born from the Envision Event.

Continuing need for English as a Second Language (ESL) Volunteer Teachers!

Demand from our surrounding community continues to grow. We would like to start a second Beginner’s section and need to find additional teachers to start up in the coming months.

We need persons with an interest in building a strong diverse community in our Prince of Peace neighborhood. The teaching commitment is for one day a week for two hours on Tuesday or Friday morning. It requires no special teaching experience. If you can help occasionally, we need people who can sign up as substitute teachers as well.

If you have an interest or just have questions, send a note to ESL@poplc.org or call the Prince of Peace ESL Coordinator, Mark Rumohr, at 703-776-0947. Can’t wait to hear from you!

ECHO Gets Ready for the Holidays!

Thanksgiving and Christmas might seem a long way away, but ECHO is planning now to connect donors with struggling families who can really appreciate a festive holiday meal. Again, this year, we are suggesting that donors give grocery gift cards so clients can purchase foods their families prefer, though delivery of groceries is also an option. Thanksgiving meals should be delivered no later than November 19 and Christmas meals by December 18. To get more information and/or participate as a donor, email franalaneck@msn.com and you will receive information from Fran or from Sue Anne Sobart in early November.

Blood Drive

Our neighbor David Hughes Orthodontics will be holding a blood drive on Thursday, November 3, from 12-5 pm at 8314 Traford Ln. Book your appointment HERE
