Remembering
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
Queen of Canada
 Dear Colleagues,

Like many around the globe, Acadia University is saddened by the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada. Many will recall her gracing our campus and dining in Wheelock Hall during a tour of Canada in July 1976. It was a special time for our small campus to be on the world stage.

As the longest-reigning king or queen in the 1,000 years of the monarchy in Britain, Her Majesty has stoically served as the head of state for more than 138 million people around the world since she was just 25 years old – not much older than our recent graduating class members.

The Queen always aimed to be “worthy of our trust,” and so she was.

Her enduring leadership throughout decades of tumultuous historical events and the personal challenges of a modern monarchy did not waver. She served us with grace and care to her last days.

Let us remember and honour her life’s work as we share our condolences to the Royal Family, including His Majesty King Charles III, as he takes on the enormous responsibilities of the throne.

Sincerely,

Peter
