Cast Your Vote for the Hunger Fighters!
The Hunger Fighters have been fighting hunger in Berks County through Canstructure for the last 4 years! This community based team is comprised of Elementary, Middle School and High School students living in the Wilson School District.

Canstructure is a structure building competition to fight hunger. Teams of Berks County youth compete in a contest to build incredible structures made from cans of food. Each team is responsible for holding its own food drive prior to the event to collect the cans for its structure and all canned food will be donated to the Helping Harvest Food Bank following the competition.

Over the last 4 years, our group raised 7.8 TONS of food for Helping Harvest. They love being part of Canstructure because they get to challenge each other to raise more every year, learn more about engineering and STEM while giving back to the community. The Wilson team has collectively volunteered a total of 1,430 hours over the last 4 year and are grateful for our community of supporters. Please consider a small donation to continue funding this project for years to come.

This year's structure is based on "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." You can support the Hunger Fighters by donating/voting for them at for the Hunger Fighters at this link.

COMMUNITY SWIMMING LESSONS
The spring Learn-To-Swim program offers five different sessions to choose from over the course of three months.
Spring swimming lessons are more intensive and WSD Aquatics runs swimming lessons on Tuesday & Thursday evenings during each session. Each three-week session will consist of five 30 minute lessons.
These five-date sessions will offer three different class times. Specific levels will be offered during each timeslot. Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, we will not offer private or semi-private lessons, open to non-residents, or offer advanced classes this year. Classes are filled on a first-come-first-serve basis.

AMERICAN RED CROSS COURSES
Starting Tuesday evenings March 22nd WSD Aquatics will offer an ARC Red Cross Lifeguarding course.
Students interested must be 15 years or older by May 24, 2022.

This course is a two-date recertification class that will teach new skills, as well as review old skills, necessary for a student to lifeguard at public and private pools. Students must attend the entire class, pass all tests, and competently perform the required skills in order to receive certification at the end of the course. Payment and attendance does not guarantee recertification. This new course offered through the American Red Cross includes Lifeguarding, first aid, CPR, and AED training for professional rescuers. If a student passes the course, they will be recertified for two years.

Information and registration are now on the web for the 2022 Spring Middle School Mainline Water Polo League.
Practices will run Monday & Wednesday evenings from March 28-April 28, 2022. For registration and cost information please visit the website.

Wilson Aquatics will resume our evening open lap swim schedule beginning the week of March 28th.
Visit the website for dates and cost information.
Wilson Team "Rallies" to Support Ryder!
One of the best things about being part of the Wilson School District team is that we rally together to help support those in need. One of our own Wilson teachers from Green Valley, Jenna Knechtle (1st grade) and her family are facing a very difficult time right now. The youngest of their 3 boys, Ryder (age 5) was diagnosed with DIPG in July of 2020. DIPG is a rare, inoperable brain tumor that currently has no cure.

Ryder is part of a clinical trial that is based out of the University of California, San Francisco. He is responding well to treatment and as research continues, we are beyond hopeful that Ryder continues to heal and live his very best life!

Our district staff worked together to hold a Rally for Ryder Jeans Day this week to help ease their financial burden and allow them to focus all of their love and attention on their beautiful children! We just love how our Wilson family works together to make a difference!

You can follow Ryder’s story on Facebook at #RallyForRyder
