October Count Day

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

October Count Day is COMING! Every school year we are required by the Colorado Department of Education to report our enrollment numbers. This is done by attendance verification. The attendance verification window is from September 26 through October 11, with October 3 being the official Count Day.

We ask that students be in attendance during this attendance window, and we request that all on campus students be present for each assigned class and all online students are active in their online class during the class time. Due to the importance of Count Day on 10/3, please do NOT have appointments or early pickup be conducted on that date which would remove the student from the classroom.

Bottom line, October Count provides CECDC the funding for your student to receive the $4200 voucher to pursue college goals, hire and retain quality instructors, and deliver top-notch programming! October Count is crucial to the continued success of CECDC to provide you and your family this wonderful opportunity.

We kindly request your support during Count Day. If you have questions regarding this event, please contact the school for additional information.

College Fairs are still going on through October

If you are considering going to a 4-year university after graduating from CEC, you may want to attend a college fair. These are great opportunities for meeting with representatives of several colleges all in one day. In-person and virtual options are available. Click here to find an event near you.

The College Tour Show

Do you know about the College Tour show? You can watch 30-minute episodes about various colleges across the country and hear from students who attend there. This is a great tool for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders to use to start building your college wish list. Some of our Colorado colleges and universities have been featured!

RaiseMe-Micro-scholarships

Students in grades 9, 10 and 11, can benefit from RaiseMe.com. RaiseMe allows students to create a profile, select colleges they are interested in, and then upload information about their grades, extracurricular activities, work, etc. to earn micro-scholarships at their chosen universities. Over the course of your high school career, you will see your scholarship grow as you add more information. Not all colleges participate, but their partners are growing. 10th and 11th graders can go back to add things they did in earlier years. If you apply to and are accepted at one of your chosen universities, the scholarship will be applied. It’s a great motivating tool! Watch a short video to learn more here.

October 16 - Deadline to Apply

This upcoming spring, fueled by the Daniels Fund, Wend Collective, and Strada Education Network, we’re helping a team of young people explore career opportunities in Colorado...for free! If you’re especially hoping to find a career in health care, the skilled trades, STEM, agriculture, or natural resources and energy, we’re looking for you! We want to give you a hands-on look at how people like you are using their talents and interests to find fulfilling and meaningful careers right in your home state.

Application Details:

  • All travel expenses, plus a daily stipend for personal expenses, are paid for by Roadtrip Nation.
  • This trip is currently scheduled for late spring 2023, but the timing may shift as we continue to monitor the situation with COVID-19. We'll work with applicants and communicate about timing as we learn more.
  • We want to share your journey with others, so the road trip will be filmed. The resulting documentary may be shown on public television, as well as other relevant video platforms.
  • Individuals who are chosen will help plan the trip around their specific interests, areas of study, and career aspirations, so you’ll be working with Roadtrip Nation to research and book interviews with the career role models you’d like to speak with.
