The City’s largest award to date is an impressive $2,837,500 from the Land and Water Conservation Fund. These funds will support Phase 1 development of Wildomar’s 27-Acre Park, bringing expansive new recreational facilities, green spaces, and community amenities that will serve residents for generations to come.

Cal Consulting is proud to celebrate the City of Menlo Park for its successful award of $2,297,000 through the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) Climate Program Implementation - Charging Infrastructure Grant! With over 14 years of experience in grant writing and 25 years in business, legal, and operations, Shari has helped municipalities and organizations access critical funding for transformative projects in public safety, infrastructure, recreation, and energy.
One of her most impactful accomplishments includes securing multi-million-dollar funding through the California Department of Parks and Recreation Prop 68: Statewide Park Program (SPP). Her efforts have led to grants such as $7,841,000 for the City of Gardena, $6,950,000 for the City of Stanton, and $8,500,000 for the City of Needles, among others. These grants have allowed communities to revitalize public spaces, create new green areas, and improve access to outdoor recreational opportunities. USDOT Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program

Cal Consulting is thrilled to share a new funding opportunity for local governments, Tribal entities, and regional organizations! The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has announced the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program, aimed at enhancing roadway safety and reducing fatalities.
Grant Details:
- Deadline: June 26, 2025
- Award Amount: $100,000 to $25 million
- Match Requirement: Yes, 20%
Purpose of the Grant:
The SS4A Grant Program offers Planning and Demonstration Grants to develop, complete, or enhance comprehensive safety action plans. These plans are designed to create a holistic, strategic approach to eliminating roadway fatalities and serious injuries within a locality, Tribe, or region.
The grants also support supplemental planning and demonstration activities that can help shape a new or existing Action Plan. The USDOT encourages the inclusion of demonstration activities within applications to showcase innovative safety strategies.

Kristi Baker Joins California Consulting as New Grant Writer
We are excited to welcome Kristi Baker to California Consulting as a Grant Writer! Kristi brings over 15 years of experience in grant writing and consulting, following a successful 20-year career as an educator in Texas public and Catholic diocesan schools. Her passion for communication, research, and project management has driven her success in securing funding for nonprofits, corporations, educational institutions, and municipalities.
Kristi’s recent focus has been on broadband infrastructure, where she has written and managed complex federal and state grants—including BEAD, ARPA, and USDA ReConnect—for major clients such as Frontier Communications, Wecom Fiber, and Nextlink Internet. She is skilled in developing grant processes, managing compliance, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
Kristi holds a Bachelor of Arts from East Texas Baptist University and a teaching certification from the University of North Texas. In her free time, she enjoys baking, a passion she honed through culinary training.

California Consulting Welcomes Hector Velasquez as New Grant Writer
California Consulting is thrilled to welcome Hector Velasquez as our new Junior Grant Writer! Hector brings a wealth of experience in data analysis and analytics, skills honed during his time working at the prestigious USC Rossier School of Education.
During his time there, he participated in various mixed-methods evaluations aimed at addressing challenges in educational equity. Hector was initially hired as a graduate research assistant for two years and later became a staff member on his team.
He was involved in projects that evaluated the effectiveness of Black College Success Programs, College Preparatory Programs, and initiatives designed to assess the impact of mentorship and online science curriculum interventions on low-income and minoritized middle school and college students’ science identity and social capital, particularly in relation to Physics and Astronomy fields. Throughout this role, Hector specialized in leading data collection efforts through student surveys, visualizing the results using Tableau, and conducting qualitative interviews with participants involved in these evaluations.
Hector holds a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy. He is passionate about leveraging data-driven insights to support local governments, school districts, and organizations in achieving their goals. With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to innovative approaches, Hector is ready to make an impact.
