Message from the Principal
Halloween is around the corner. This year it falls on Sunday and we anticipate that most students will not want to wear costumes to school on the Friday prior (10/29). As we do for all Fridays, we hope all students will wear their class shirts or HP Giant gear on 10/29. However, if a student does elect to wear a costume, please know that due to pandemic mitigations, Covid face masks must be worn. Here is a link with specific HPHS guidelines regarding costumes.

HOMEROOM
Yesterday, during homeroom, Highland Park High School conducted a scheduled School Safety/Active Threat Drill. The School Safety Drill Act (105 ILCS 128/) establishes requirements and standards, which includes the type, number, and frequency of safety drills. This drill used our ALICE protocols--Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate. In our ongoing effort to improve our preparedness, the second required School Safety/Active Threat Drill that will take place later this year will not be announced.

If you did not receive a text from HPHS about this drill, please make sure your contact information is up to date so that we can be sure to reach you in the event of an emergency. To verify or update your contact information, go to the Infinite Campus portal here: https://ic.dist113.org/campus/portal/township.jsp

ACTIVITIES
Dress to Dance on Friday! Our Homecoming DJ is returning during lunch periods for a final fall showing! Weather permitting, the courtyard will be open to the cafeteria and students can request music and dance with friends during lunch! The weather may be chilly - so dress accordingly!
Friday, October 29, 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM is a senior’s last chance to have their senior portrait taken for our yearbook. The sitting is FREE,students should just go to the Giant Conference Room near the cafeteria during the time mentioned above. If a student is a Jr, So or Fr and missed their picture day, please email Mrs. Friedrich to find out how they can participate.
HP Scholastic Bowl started its season with a sweep of a double header. HP Defeated Maine South 300 to 130 and followed that victory over Maine West 280 to 120. Leading the way for Highland Park were Cooper Wallman led the team with 5 tossups (50 Points) in the Maine West Match, and Ari Nathanson had 5 tossups (50 Points) in the Maine South Match. We are definitely proud of Scholastic Bowl’s GIANT start! To keep in touch with future updates subscribe to our blog.
