Dear friends,

Now that we’re one month into the new year, the formality of specific New Year’s resolutions has likely faded away, and we’re left with some general goals and hopes for the next 11 months of 2023. While each of us has different goals based on our own personal circumstances, I can assume that there is a common theme in all of our goals for 2023 . . . growth. And as every entrepreneur knows, the best way to grow a business is to increase sales.

This is one of the reasons why we feature Sales Strategy as our first program topic of the new year - to help our entrepreneurs kickstart their 2023 growth goals. Cohort 5 Fellows Margaret Munyure and Oluwatunmise Adejare took these learnings to heart and shared their key takeaways and new strategies with us - and we encourage you to follow suit!

With many countries on the continent and across the globe in various states of economic crisis, the new year also provides a great opportunity to rethink, redesign, and reimagine strategies to reinvigorate your business. Whether it’s a new product idea, a new hire, a new social media strategy, or a new partnership, a strong understanding of the art and science of selling can help you close the deal on any of these interactions.

Whether you’re intensely following through on your 2023 goals or you’ve already forgotten them, we encourage you to test out a new sales strategy today - it’s never too late to grow your business!

Cheers to 2023 growth,

Dawn Leaness

What opportunities and challenges should business leaders be prepared to encounter in 2023? The GET selected six issues guests have cited in previous episodes and asked them to discuss the reasons why these issues are on their radar and what CEOs need to consider and plan for. If these topics–energy transition, decentralized finance, economic decoupling, algorithmic safety, identity, and the case for regional trading bloc headquarters—are not on your radar, maybe the New Year is a good time to consider if they should be?
