Reporting Back - December 2021
I want to extend my warmest wishes to everyone across Wimbledon this Christmas, especially everyone who has worked so hard in our NHS and Care settings to make our vaccination programme such a success. We have faced a great many challenges this last year, and to everyone who has helped and supported our community I extend my thanks.

Unfortunately, Covid cases are rising again, and it is important we all do our part and get our boosters as soon as possible to protect ourselves and our loved ones this winter. if you have not done so already, please book in for your booster here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/
Or make plans to attend a local drop-in centre, which you can find here: http://swlondonccg.nhs.uk/covid/where-can-you-get-vaccinated/vaccination-walk-in-clinics/

Following the rise of Parliament after a particularly busy lead up to Christmas, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in Wimbledon a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  I do hope everyone is staying safe at this time.

Wimbledon Chase Station
I met with Patrick Ladbury of Thameslink at Wimbledon Chase Station. I am continuing to campaign for step free access at both Wimbledon Chase and Haydons Road Stations. It is crucial for local residents that we see a return to a full train service and tangible progress on step free access as soon as possible.
The Love Wimbledon Gift Card
Wimbledon’s Business Improvement District, Love Wimbledon, has launched London’s first Town Centre Gift Card. The gift card is a great way to support our local businesses at a time when they are under pressure from both the pandemic and large online retailers.

It’s a fantastic scheme which I am incredibly pleased to welcome, both as a local constituency MP and as the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Town Centres. To find more information or purchase a gift card please visit their website: http://www.wimbledongiftcard.com/
High Path Estate Visit
Last Monday I visited the High Path Estate to see the re-development work being undertaken by Clarion. These works will provide much needed new homes to local residents and it is crucial they are carried out to the best possible standards.

I have met with Clarion to highlight serious concerns which have been raised with me by my constituents and I will continue to hold both them and Merton Council to account for any failings experienced by my constituents.
Gas Works in Dennis Park Crescent
SGN have notified me they will be closing Burstow Road at the junction with Toynebee Road for 10 weeks from the 4th of January to carry out essential maintenance works. Hopefully the advance notice of the works will help minimise disruption.
Visit to St Raphael's Hospice
I was delighted to visit St Raphael’s Hospice at the end of November. The care they provide is so valuable to both patients and their loved ones.

I was also able to chat to Nick and Gail, joint CEOs, about some of the funding and staffing challenges they are facing. Don’t forget you can support St Raphael's by visiting their shop in Wimbledon Village or by donating at https://www.straphaels.org.uk/appeal/donate
Down Syndrome Bill
I was pleased to support my friend Dr Liam Fox’s Down Syndrome Bill when it came to the House of Commons last month. The Bill aimed to provide support for those with Down Syndrome throughout their lives as for the first time many with Down Syndrome will outlive their parents and need additional support in later life.
Merton Hong Kong Group
In November I met with a group of people from Hong Kong who live in our local area. It was a real pleasure to hear from them first-hand. It is crucial we support those who look to Britain as an example when their rights and freedoms are being ruthlessly curtailed by autocrats overseas.

I led a debate in the House of Commons on Hong Kong last year, you can find a link to this here: https://parliamentlive.tv/event/index/eaec7d44-5e95-4bba-a751-9620502bcd1e?in=11:00:00
