Need Your Assistance to Better our Campus

As part of our ongoing efforts to promote diversity, equity inclusion, and anti-racism, this Fall the college will administer the student survey portion of the National Assessment of Collegiate Campus Climates (NACCC), developed by the USC Race and Equity Center.

The NACCC survey will open on Tuesday, September 27th. Students over age 18 will receive emailed links to the 15-minute survey. Every student who completes the survey will be entered into a random drawing to win a $50 Visa gift card. Forty winners will be selected!

The more students we hear from, the more we can learn to cultivate a campus environment where all students feel a sense of unconditional belonging. For more information about the NACCC survey, contact Interim Dean of Research and Planning, Melissa Reeve: Melissa.Reeve@solano.edu.

Solano Theatre Presents "Pinned Butterfly"

Solano College Theatre Presents "Pinned Butterfly," which started September 23 and runs through October 2. The play is directed by Trey Reeves.

The story follows a local gay pride group which arranges a pride march, but their leader, Michael Cutter, wants to make it about something more personal. As Cutter tries to lead a war against the bisexual community, members of his group begin to have realizations about themselves and each other, while also being torn apart by the conflict and hate that Cutter insists is necessary.

Officer Dayrit Makes a Friend

Birds need love and protection also! While on routine patrol on the exterior of the Vacaville Center recently, a small but very cute bird landed in front of Officer Dayrit and it appeared dazed. Officer Dayrit bent down and extended his hand out to the bird to see if it was okay. The bird hopped right into the palm of his hand and would not leave, so he carried his new friend, and protected his new friend, while he completed his exterior security check of the building.

After spending time with Officer Dayrit and perhaps feeling safe enough to fly away, they parted ways.

We wish the birdie well until they meet again!

Interview with DPS Chief

Department of Public Safety Chief Brian Travis was recently interviewed for the "Campus Safety Report" published by Wiley, a global leader in publishing, education and research for higher education. The main editor of Wiley, Halley Sutton, heard about the programs we have at DPS from a couple of her colleagues, so she reached out to the chief for an interview. Read the report, which begins on page 3.
