In order to dig out of a decades-long slump in housing production, this legislative session's unprecedented progress in housing must be just the beginning.
Earlier this month, a series of housing bills were signed into law by Governor Dan McKee, representing critical progress toward increased housing production. These bills include requirements for higher density housing developments, the conversion of commercial buildings into residences, and the banning of rental application fees. All but one of the 14 housing-focused bills introduced by House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi were signed into law.
