Principal's Corner
Holiest of Weeks
As we start Holy Week, I hope everyone is able to take some time out of our busy schedules to focus on the events commemorated this week. This is the high point of the Christian year. The passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus demonstrate for us the incomprehensible love that God has for each of us. These events provide the model for how we, as Christians, should interact with the world - with love and self-giving. So I encourage everyone to participate as fully as your family can in the church services and liturgical events so that we can all deepen our relationship with Jesus this Holy Week. Here are a few ideas for celebrating Holy Week as a family.

Greetings
This week's area of focus for growing in wisdom and virtue involves greetings. Students should make eye contact when offering a greeting to a classmate or adult and offer a polite greeting. A greeting from another person should always be returned in kind. Please help us practice greetings with your students at home.
PTO Upcoming
April 12th will be our next Used Uniform Swap from 4pm-6pm in the cafeteria. Bring your GENTLY used uniform items to swap or purchase any item for $2.

If you are willing to help volunteer, please email Beth Middleton at middletonb820@gmail.com
OKTOBERFEST Needs YOU!
The St. Benedict Oktoberfest is one of RVA's favorite 'fests each and every year! Making this event a great success for the 50,000 guests it welcomes annually, takes the leadership and hard work of a dedicated group of volunteers. The Oktoberfest Committee is seeking Committee members for the following important areas:

  • Children's Area Lead
  • Oktoberfest Committee Secretary
  • Food Concessions Support Leads (to support Lead)
  • Set Up & Decorations Lead

If you love this event and are interested in playing a bigger role in this vital event for our school and parish communities, please email today Gretchen Ridgely at gridgely@saintbenedictschool.org. We need you!
Library Whispers
The school-wide Reading Challenge is coming to a close. Turn in your finished challenge sheet before April 29 to claim your certificate and House points. Reading Challenge information is on the school website.

4&5 Book Club meets on Monday, April 11.

We just received six new books that were donated from our wishlist. Thank you, Friends of the Comet Library!

Remember to be a good steward of the books you have borrowed: turn pages carefully with clean hands, use a bookmark to keep your place, put books gently in backpacks, and keep water bottles away from books.
Lost and Found
Parents! Please encourage your child to check our Lost and Found closet in the Cafeteria. It is filled with water bottles and uniform fleeces.
Substitute Teachers Needed
Saint Benedict School is looking for substitute teachers. Applicants should have their college degree and will have a background check performed as part of the application process. Please contact Sean Cruess or Pam Autry at 804-254-8850 if you are interested. Thank you!
