Parking Deck Update

In anticipation of acquiring access to our long-awaited parking deck, the driveway immediately behind the church offices and to the small parking garage will be closed to all vehicular and foot traffic, for paving and surfacing, beginning February 3, 2023 until completed.

Please do not park or walk in that area. The construction crew needs to have full access, so they can expedite this process. It is very important that we adhere to this directive, so there will not be a delay.

Church Council Meeting

Sunday, February 12, 2023 | 12:30 PM | Room 111

Carol's Recovery Buddies

The great news is that our dear Carol had a very successful spine surgery last Wednesday, February 1st. Now, she and Belva need our help and company to prepare healthy meals and visit Carol during the week.

Carol needs some assistance walking around the house and is wanting our company. Carol and Belva also covet our help with small household tasks like loading and unloading the dishwasher and perhaps the occasional load of laundry. As the weather warms, Carol will need company to take short walks outside.

Thank you for taking this great opportunity to love our friends, Belva and Carol, in this time of recovery! Sign up here to support our dear friends Carol and Belva. https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/2n6ze5

Georgia Tech's Women in Materials Science and Engineering (WiMSE) Organization Volunteers

Saint Mark UMC Outreach owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to Tom Rosenmayer and to the GaTech WiMSE chapter. Tom was kind enough to put us in touch with WiMSE when he learned of the ongoing work in Wiggins House to bring it back to life for its next chapter:  housing for female students from GaTech who are housing insecure. Yes, it is real, and we have the pleasure of working on this with our own Steve Fazenbaker who handles the STAR Program (Student Temporary Assistance and Resources) at Ga. Tech.

WiMSE is an organization that is made up of Women in Math, Science, and Engineering, and there are chapters at many US colleges. A team of members has come to Saint Mark to contribute to our efforts...they have toted furniture, cleaned spaces, prepared for the painter, chosen furniture to be retained and upgraded, removed old ceiling tiles and installed new ceiling tiles in the two living spaces, installed knobs on cabinets, toted trash, and cleaned like furies. We often wonder what our tomorrows look like, and I can tell you that based on my work with these young students, we are in tremendous hands.

Donations Needed

If you would like to support our Wiggins House relaunch, please visit our Amazon.com wish list and consider donating: https://a.co/6IVJP2d Thank you.

Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to witness the events of the Gospels? Imagine being in the boat with the disciples on the Sea of Galilee when Jesus spoke to the storm or standing on the Mount of Olives beside a weeping Jesus. Although going back in time is not possible, you can go where the events of the Bible took place - the Holy Land. Pastor Carolyn is putting together a group who are interested in going to the Holy Land this fall.

INFORMATION SESSION

We will have an information session after the 11 AM service on Sunday, February 19, 2023 in Wade Hall. Please join us along with the Rev. Dr. Jamie Jenkins. For more information and to download flyer, click here.
