JUDAS ISCARIOT PART 3

THE LOVE OF MONEY

As Judas had walked about three years with Jesus, he knew that Jesus was the Anointed One, the Messiah. So, why did he sell out the Master?

Judas had a stronghold gripping him. It was his love [lust] of money. Strongholds are powerful controlling forces. When he learned that he could get paid for exposing Jesus to the temple authorities, he took the money and brought the Temple guards to capture Jesus.

Thirty pieces of silver were not chump change. Let us compare it to today’s value. Our U.S. bullion one dollar silver eagle is valued close to thirty-five dollars. So, thirty coins [pieces of silver] at $35 each would come to $1,050.00, which is a tempting sum. It might have had even greater value in their days.

Judas had seen Jesus miraculously heal many people. Jesus had restored lame limbs and had raised the dead. Judas, himself, had performed many of those same miracles when Jesus sent out the twelve and again when he sent out the seventy. They were given power to do all the same works that Jesus had done. Judas had not simply seen the works; he had also done those works himself through the power Jesus had delegated to the twelve and the seventy. Yet, in his moment of weakness, he yielded to the lust for money.

Judas was the treasurer for the group. His weakness had led him to pilfer [steal] money from the group for his own pocket all through Jesus’ ministry. He was too weak to resist the stronghold.

Some of us may have an unrighteous stronghold also. It takes spiritual deliverance to break such a stronghold. We must give it entirely to Jesus to be free of it. It is only through Jesus’ mighty power that strongholds are broken. Strongholds are brought onto us by demonic influence. It is a spiritual battle that grips our natural bodies and minds.  

When we repent and yield ourselves to Jesus, his mighty power will set us free.

A GIANT KILLER

As we look at the life of David, much happened before he killed Goliath. He had several older brothers that were warriors. While they battled with King Saul, David stayed home and tended his father’s sheep.  

During that time of being a shepherd, his future life was being formed. It was then that he came to know the Lord intimately. Psalm 23 came from his heart when he was young. He spent time playing music on his harp. Can’t you just hear him singing praises to God and by doing so, lulling the sheep to sleep?

There was also the training in protecting the sheep. He killed a lion and bear to keep the sheep safe. He was an expert with a sling. Remember, he was not a warrior with a sword and shield. He was a young lad that was only entrusted with a harp and a sling. His training would lead and save his followers later in life.

David went through the process of being trained before Samuel ever anointed him to be the next king over Israel. It was in those lonely hours alone with stinky sheep that David drew close to God.  

The prophet Samuel had warned Saul in 1 Samuel 13:13-14 long before he lost his anointing that “…the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart…” In Acts 13:22 Paul preached about David and said, “…I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will.” 

You see my friend, in order to be a giant killer, you must go through preparation. You must first be a person after God’s own heart. This means you spend time with the Lord, praying and thanking him for the life he has given you. It means you put Him first above everything else. This means that even when you have to do menial tasks that you give God your praise. This means when you are rejected by family that you give God praise. This means when you have been told you have been anointed for an assignment and it is not happening yet, that you give God praise. You give God praise while he prepares you for your life’s call.

David would never have become a giant killer and then later the King of Israel if he had not spent time alone with God, leaning on God and God’s strength alone. David had a resolve to serve God, to love God, to always have a heart towards God, and when the timing was right, he became a giant killer.

Do not rush the process. It may take years to bring you to the place of being used for God’s kingdom and for his glory. Do not think that the preparation season is in vain. It prepares you to be that giant killer.

God isn't interested in how much we do for Him. He is looking at our heart to see what our motives are in all that we do. Little is much when God is in it. If He has called you to do some little things, do them and do them with a willing heart. The little things that He asks of us are just as important as great tasks. Remember, God honors faithfulness.

Friday Thought For Today

Is anyone else having issues like I have been this past week? I seem to find myself sticking my foot into my mouth and second guessing myself on answers to people. I saw a quote on a calendar that said:

“YOU are the LIGHT of the world.”

Matthew 5:14

It made me think about how I was seen by others. We all mess up and get it wrong from time to time. But God! We belong to Him and He knows our insecurities and trials we face on a daily basis. So IF you are like me and have felt like you were battling a giant; BREATHE! RELAX! More important ask for forgiveness and forgive yourself.



Allow His mercy and grace to cover you like a warm blanket and receive His Love!

Just remember IF you can’t successfully make it THROUGH the PROCESS you’re now in; Then you won’t get TO the PURPOSE your heart desires to have and to walk into the future with. Yes, there is always some kind of heartfelt PRICE to PAY for PURPOSE. So just hang in there and don’t give up; For you have GOD on your SIDE…And HOLY SPIRIT as your GUIDE. Oh, come on now for you know you can make it with this kind of support system.

If you are not saved or born again, you may be a "good person" but you are headed for the same hell or "lake of fire" that evil people are going. Think of being in eternity with the most vilest of hardened criminals, murderers, perverted child abusers and satan worshippers. There are no separated areas in hell or a lower intensity of fire, based on what sins sent you there. Your common ground with these people, is you did not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. He is the Only Way to enter into Heaven! I pray this public post will reach somebody today and they will know the perception of their goodness is not enough to be saved or born again. Nothing but the Blood of Jesus!

The deepest in our Heart, goes to be with him.

And we will change and grow. Growing in Christ

Produces much fruit, for Faith goes hand in

Hand with works. And then you see love,

Care, compassion, comes forth. But remember,

Works without Faith, the roots don’t grow deeper,

And no fruit is produced.
