PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Greetings!

Congratulations to students and staff on the successful completion of Quarter 1. In the coming weeks you’ll receive progress reports and academic feedback. As you reflect on the beginning of the school year, I hope you are able to identify your strengths and apply them to continuous progress and development academically. This is how our community will elevate a culture and climate of learning and achievement.

Take care, be well, and Go Park!

LaNisha Paddock, Principal

SHARE THE MIC PODCAST

Youth Data Analysts - The Hopes and Dreams of our Community

Episode 1 dropped October 31, 2022. Listen to Episode 1 on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Amira Abdirahman and Charlotte Cox spent their summer as Youth Data Analysts. These incredible students join Supt. Astein Osei for the first episode of the Share the Mic podcast to share more about their experience. Their research on the hopes and dreams of their community has ignited change in St. Louis Park Public Schools.

The Share the Mic podcast explores what connects the St. Louis Park community: who we are as individuals and who we are as a collective to understand the Ubuntu saying, I Am Because We Are. Through conversations with students, staff, and community members, we'll talk about what brings us joy, our hopes and dreams, and our connection to St. Louis Park Public School's Strategic Plan for Racial Equity Transformation. NOVEMBER IS NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH

St. Louis Park Public Schools exist on the land of the Dakota and Ojibwe peoples. We acknowledge the Dakota and Ojibwe community, their elders both past and present, as well as future generations. We acknowledge that our school district was founded upon exclusions and erasures of many Indigenous Peoples, including those on whose land our school district is located. We commit to dismantling the ongoing legacies of colonial power and the district’s desire to support the ongoing work of local Indigenous communities to thrive in our schools. Especially this month, we celebrate Native American Heritage Month and honor the Indigenous students and families we serve in St. Louis Park Public Schools.

ELECTION DAY HS INFORMATION

Tuesday, November 8th is election day and voting will be held in the Activity Center.  Please be aware that parking in the lot near door 15 may be impacted for both students and staff.

ST. LOUIS PARK HIGH SCHOOLS THEATRE PRESENTS

Chicago: Teen Edition November 11-13 and 18-20

Kander and Ebb’s Chicago is a scathing social commentary on our national obsession with violence and fame. Based on the 1926 play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, the musical follows Roxie Hart, whose crime of passion lands her on Merry Murderesses Row, sharing the spotlight with vaudeville icon and fellow felon Velma Kelly. To keep their names in the headlines and themselves off death row, Roxie and Velma rely on lawyer Billy Flynn to “razzle dazzle” the jury and the press core. Please note that Chicago: Teen Edition represents adult situations and is not appropriate for a young audience.

Performances are November 11, 12, 18, and 19 at 7:00 pm and November 13 and 20 at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students and senior citizens, and free with student ID for all SLPHS students. Please purchase tickets at https://gopark.hometownticketing.com/embed/all. No cash will be accepted at the venue.

REMINDER: COVID-19 GUIDANCE

St. Louis Park Public Schools will continue to follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) regarding COVID-19 during the 2022-23 school year. View the MDH Guidelines/Flowsheet and the CDC Isolation guidelines

  • Masks: Students and staff will be required to wear a face covering if 5% or more of the students and/or staff who attend or work at their school site test positive for COVID-19. Students and staff can choose to wear a mask at any time.

  • What If I Test Positive? Stay home for at least five days, isolate yourself from others and wear a well-fitted mask if you must be around others in your home. Isolation may end after five days, and students and staff may return to school on day six if your illness symptoms have improved, you are fever-free without fever reducing medicine for 24 hours, and are able to wear a well fitted mask on days 6-10. If a person was asymptomatic and then developed symptoms after testing positive, the 5-day isolation period starts over, with the start of symptoms being day zero.

  • Guidance if Exposed: Students and staff who have been exposed to COVID-19 do not need to quarantine.

  • COVID-19 Dashboard: We publish COVID-19 infection rate data on a weekly basis – with the exception of Winter Break and Spring Break. The information will be published weekly on our website.

Visit the COVID-19 Information webpage for more information.
