On Thursday, June 24, 2021, James Barry Shane, AIA, loving husband of Karen Lewis Shane, went home to the Lord. He fought valiantly against the ravages of multiple afflictions though finally chose to start his next journey surrounded by family.
Jim served as President of the Grand Valley Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and as President of the Michigan Society of Architects. He was awarded the AIA Michigan Gold Medal in 1994 in recognition of contributions and for demonstrating outstanding achievement in professional endeavor. Both professionally and personally, Jim demonstrated great dedication and compassion for the people he encountered throughout his life, He will be greatly missed. Link to the full obituary
