Join us as we continue to welcome
and get to know Roger Stratton,
our new Minister of Music!

This Sunday's Adult Forum, 10:45 AM

After the 9:30 service, join us in a conversation with Roger Stratton, our new Minister of Music. Roger will lead the adult forum, introducing himself to us and giving the congregation an opportunity to get to know him better.

Note: due to rising Covid numbers, we'll gather outdoors for this forum. If you're able to bring a chair, that's wonderful. We'll also have chairs available.
A Letter from Your Leadership
Dear Beloved,

"Church is not a building, it's a people." Wise words from scholar George Martin who has been a guest speaker at Bible Study the past few weeks. We have lived this reality since March 2020. Gathering as a people now feels like a privilege, a privilege we want to protect as much as possible. Although Covid case numbers for Hennepin county continue to rise, we believe high vaccination rates in our community along with the strong mitigation measures we have implemented do not eliminate risk but do reduce risk to an acceptable level.

Mitigation measures we have taken include: four new air purifiers with HEPA filters, mask and social distancing signs, added safety guidelines in the bulletin, social distancing reminders on the Sanctuary floor, hand sanitizing stations, running fans, and as always, a mask requirement. With an eye on current Covid statistics your Rector, Wardens, and Minister of Music have been brainstorming even more ways to provide safety to our population. We’ve decided to reduce the instances of congregational spoken word during the service such as the Psalm and the Nicene Creed for both the 8 and 9:30 services. And while the weather holds we plan to process outside at the 9:30 service for the final hymn and announcements followed by a brief outdoor Forum. We hope this will only be necessary for the next few weeks and that Covid case numbers will fall again. We continue to monitor statistics on a weekly basis.

We believe this hybrid service is the best way to meet the spiritual needs of our congregation and be responsible stewards of our building. Please continue to wear masks, social distance, and never attend church if you’re feeling ill. Please email [email protected] if you recently attended a service and later tested positive for Covid 19 so we can alert the rest of our community.

We understand that ultimately your safety and that of your family and friends is up to you. If you do not feel comfortable worshiping in person then please join us Live on Facebook or watch the service later on our YouTube station. Thank you for your continued love and support of your St. David’s community.

Praying for safety, unity, and love,

Rector, Katherine Lewis
Sr. Warden, Huldah Niles Jr. Warden,

Volunteers Needed for St. David's Youth Ministries
As someone who has worked closely with our St. David youth over many years, I’ll be the first to say that we have the most amazing young people in our midst. Some of my deepest and most spiritually enriching relationships at church were born during my time in youth ministry. Please consider this opportunity… not only for what it will do to support our youth, but for what it might mean for your own faith journey. Prepare to be challenged, surprised, encouraged and most importantly… to plant the seeds for life long friendships.

We are looking to build a team of youth volunteers to support our new youth minister, Anna, and our High School and Middle School youth groups. Whether you are available once a month or weekly, we need you!  Our High School group meets on Sunday evenings (6:00-8:00) and our Middle School group on Wednesday evenings (6:45-8:15). Please email Anna with questions or interest/availability at [email protected].

Thank you for loving our children so well!

ICA Update
Current ICA Needs
We will be collecting items for ICA through this Sunday, October 17. Bring your items when you come to church on Sunday or you can leave them in the ICA baskets, located at the east and south entrances any time during the week. Current ICA needs include:
* kids’ snacks & beverages
* paper products (tissues, napkins, toilet paper)
* personal products (shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, adult diapers)
Any other items you would like to give will always be appreciated.
ICA’s impact over the summer
During the summer months of June through August, ICA staff and volunteers kept busy working to help meet needs of folks in our community. They worked with 992 households, 2598 clients and distributed 231,416 pounds of food. Ongoing support from the community financially (icafoodshelf.org/donate) and through food/personal care/home cleaning product donations help to make that possible. Thank you for your ongoing support.

A note from a grateful client
“You guys went above and beyond with helping me and my children. Life is already tough and then throw in a pandemic. I sincerely appreciate the staff and this program for being there, helping us through these times and setting me up for success.”

In this time of the coronavirus pandemic, the need to reach our most vulnerable parishioners has been great. Our 11 person Pastoral Care Team has stepped up to the plate and has been regularly calling around 24 St. David's members and families to share in remote fellowship, prayer, and conversation to determine if we, as a community, could help address any of their unmet needs. We are pleased to report that virtually all of these parishioners are doing well so far and have their basic needs met by their facilities and/or family. They are in good spirits and continue to remain resilient in the face of isolation and uncertainty.

If you find yourself in need of food or other resources, please contact:
Steve Johnson at: [email protected] or (952) 237-0031
or:
The Rev. Katherine Lewis at: [email protected] or (612) 747-5405

and we will assist you in finding solutions.
