From the Bridge Pastor

Black History Month begins February 1. Why is it important for you to celebrate Black History Month? Black History Month is that time for African Americans to acknowledge key figures from our past and present. It’s an opportunity to spotlight and celebrate the achievements that African Americans have accomplished in this country, despite the history of racism and oppression. Black History Month represents Black influence around the world. Today, we not only celebrate the Black astronauts, scientists, inventors, artists, and activists of the past; we also celebrate the rise of Black business, arts, and literature that will influence the future. Please take a look at the icon of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on the table in the narthex.

Bible Study at Pierce Street Coffee Works. The next meeting will take place on Thursday, February 9. We will be studying two Old Testament women named Tamar. Pastor Del will bring copies of the study to Coffee Works. All are invited to attend.

Backpacks at the Foodbank of Siouxland. Our next appointed date is Monday, March 20 at 5:30 PM. A signup sheet is on my office door. We have a maximum of 15 slots available. Thank you.

The Season of Lent begins on February 22, Ash Wednesday. We will have worship with imposition of ashes at 7:00 PM.

Easter Egg Tree. Last year we had an Easter egg tree in the entryway for Sleep in Heavenly Peace. The support of that was wonderful!! Plans are in place for us to do this again this year. Be on the lookout toward the end of February. The Season of Lent begins on February 22, Ash Wednesday.
If you are someone you know would benefit from a pastoral visit, please call the office, and let Michael or me know.

In Christ,
Pastor Del

We invite you to engage and strengthen your faith with these practices:

THE PRACTICE OF WORSHIP: Live Streamed on Facebook and Youtube, and recorded
We Live Stream our Sunday morning worship service via the church’s page on Facebook and Youtube at 10:30am on Sunday mornings. Every service is recorded and available to play at any time on those platforms. If you have trouble, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the church for help.

THE PRACTICE OF LEARNING: Zoom learning sessions each week 9:30 a.m. each Sunday.
Engage your mind in learning through theological reflection, asking hard questions about God and life, and test your embedded theology to see if that where you want to be.
A Closing note about ZOOM:
If you don’t have the ability or the equipment to use Zoom or Facebook to participate in these practices, please call the office. We will be happy to help you find a solution to fully participate in the life of the church.
