Provisionals

We had a wonderful provisional turn out for our luncheon and flower workshop.  There were 8 provisionals who helped at the summer luncheon and 5 who attended the flower workshop.  Many attended the luncheon and  all had a great time! PLUS we had our July provisional meeting the next day, followed by PLATFORM at OMA. What a busy week!

Anyone who has wreath or tree decor they’d like to donate to our provisional class, they LOVE to go “shopping” in decor.  It gives them real inspiration!

We have several workshops planned to construct trees and wreaths.  I would love some 101 ladies to attend who would like to help us learn to make bows and decorate beautiful DTH items.  Please email Elizabeth Benoist  at embenoist@yahoo.com or text at

321-332-3995.  The more the merrier!

If you sponsored one of our provisionals and have not sponsored one of their DTH items yet, please reach out to them and offer your help.

They may have some questions they need answers for, as well. Thank you!!

Dear Council of 101 Members,

If you missed our Council of 101 Summer Luncheon in the Museum Rotunda, you missed seeing over 100 of your friends enjoying a beautiful setting, great food, and lively conversation.  We had an attractive assortment of flower arrangements on the pastel green and white tables with rattan chargers and coordinated settings.  This is all due to the talented Council of 101 members.  A special thank you to Allison Hudson and her Membership Committee, floral designer Christine Girand plus those wonderful ladies who participated in the floral workshop the afternoon before to make our time together special.  We hope to have more floral workshops later in the year!

Our guests that day included Cathryn Mattson, our new Interim Executive Director & CEO of the Orlando Museum of Art and Kathy Cardwell, Chair of the Committees on Trustees for the Board of Trustees.  Cathryn thanked the members of Council of 101 for their support and looked forward to working with us on our upcoming fundraisers.  Cathryn also mentioned that the museum will be celebrating their 100th anniversary starting in 2024.  There will be many special moments to share in the celebration of this milestone.  We had a few special Council of 101 moments with Sandra Schantini, a dear Sustainer and Past President in Council of 101 about what her membership has meant to her.  Vicki Pietrack shared a lovely blessing with everyone.

Donna Neck, Festival of Trees Chair and Vice President of Marketing and Media and Anne Olenek, Vice President of Corporate Development and Sponsorship each gave us updates on the progress of the 37thAnnual Festival of Trees – Enchanted HolidaysNovember 10th – 19th.  Donna Neck has been working with all the Festival of Trees Committee chairs to fine tune special events and our various profit centers.  She has also been updating our website with the Festival of Trees details and all our meetings over the next year.  Anne Olenek has already secured our Platinum Title Sponsor, Orlando Health.  We have secured Dr. Phillips Foundation as our Gold Sponsor and Panera is a Bronze Sponsor.  Anne has many other sponsors she is working on.

Please be sure and put the August General Membership meeting on August 24th with social time at 5:30 pm/meeting to begin at 6 pm in RED on your calendar.  If you would join me in welcoming our Hospitality Chair this year, Stacie Procher.  We will have beverages and light bites hosted by our Council of 101 Provisional Classes of 2022,2021,2020 .  We will be using our Sign-up Genius account to reach out to different groups of our membership to provide food, drinks, set-up and clean up each month.  Each person who participates will be entered to win a special gift that month to thank you for your participation.  If we all pitch in, it makes it go smoothly.

You each inspire me in so many ways!!

Senior Day Festival of Trees

The Senior Day Committee is kindly asking for gift card donations to support the much loved trivia game held on Senior Day during Festival of Trees. We are in need of gift cards to any business establishment in the amount of $10.00 to $25.00. A folder labelled Senior Day Gift Cards will be in the 101 office for you to place your donated card. The committee thanks you for supporting this fun tradition for our Seniors! I

Sponsorship Corner

For those of you that were not able to attend the Summer Luncheon, here are a few highlights so far regarding our Corporate Sponsors.

We have secured Orlando Health as our Platinum Sponsor at $20,000. We have secured Dr. Phillips Charities as our Gold Sponsor at $10,000. We are very close to securing our Silver Sponsor and I will announce that sponsor at the next meeting. We have also secured more than one Bronze Sponsorship, One of those being Panera Bread at $2,500. Hubbard Construction will once again sponsor the Rotunda Display at $3000. We have also received some private donations, and are very excited about the support shown to the Council Of 101 by our many generous patrons.

We now have four names on the “101 Angels” sign in the 101 office.

If any of you would like me to contact a potential sponsor, I would be more than happy to reach out and contact them.

Feel free to call me any time with your suggestions!

Thank you,

Did someone say yearbook? Yes, it's the time of year when we update the Council of 101 yearbook. We have tried to make it more user-friendly and hope you like the changes.

Please be sure to provide your most current contact information. If you have changes, please email Vanessa Cruz, our Office Manager, at councilof101@omart.org before August 15th. There will be printed copies for members to pick up in the 101 office, and at the September meeting. The yearbook will also be posted online under our website's "members" section. If you prefer to haveti mailed, click HERE

In case you missed it, we had several member events in July. The May, June, and July birthday celebrations were at The Gallery 32789 on July 19th. We had over 30 members who attended. Attendees met many local artists who supported our art auction during Art in Bloom. What a beautiful space. Thanks to Linda Barnby and Anne Olenek for hosting us.

The August and September birthday celebration will be on September 12th. The location and full details to follow in a Paperless Post invite soon.

Our annual Summer luncheon was on July 27th at the museum to kick off the busiest times of the year. Over 100 women gathered in the rotunda to socialize and spend time together. You could feel the energy in the room. We are grateful to Christine Girand and all the members who came out to help with set up and flower design. Members met special guests Cathryn Mattson (Interim Director/CEO) and Kathy Cardwell (Board Trustee) for OMA.

Change of Dates Motion

After further review of the Orlando Museum of Arts 2024 calendar and other community events such as school breaks, holidays and Winter Park Art Festival, we need to move the dates of the 2024 Art in Bloom from March 22th thru 24th, 2024 to April 5th thru 7th, 2024.

The original dates were approved at the May General Membership meeting. The Motion to Change the dates was presented to the Council of 101 Board of Directors and approved at the August Board meeting on August 3rd.

The motion is now being brought to the Membership for a vote at the August 24th General Membership meeting. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Lisa Sheppard, President at 407-923-2382 or

Toyland Needs Your Help!

Toyland is in need of furniture, shelving, racking, or retail display units to use for displaying merchandise. It would be best if it can be folded , lay flat or nested for easier storage.

In addition, old small book cases or shelves, toy boxes, shoe racks, bins and buckets…pegboard and hooks would be

a great help.

For decorations, they can use old wreaths, garland and trees, even the ones without leaves.

The items can be donated or borrowed.

If you can help , please get in touch with Teresa Dawes You can call, text or email her HERE

Entertaining & Design and

Silent Auction for Festival of Trees 2023

The profit centers of Silent Auction and Entertaining & Design have grown to be major fundraisers for FOT wIth the addiitonal use of the online ticket sales and bidding.

We are asking all of you to solicit your frequent favorite spots for the Entertainment & Design and Silent Auction.

You are probably all familiar with the types of items that guests love to win and bid on.

We are so grateful from the support of our 101 members in the past for their assistance in donating items themselves, as well as soliciting from contacts and friends. Even one item from you can help make a huge difference in the beautiful merchandising of these areas and the final financial totals.

Some examples of items we need : wonderful restaurant gift certificates , vacations stays at area beaches, cosmetic experiences, massages, golf rounds, hair salon gift cards, theater tickets, theme park tickets, sporting event tickets, wine and liquor baskets, specialty gift baskets , or you can donate to our money tree!

We also need small sponsorships for basket and gift merchandising, filling stuffer, ribbon, basket wrap , etc .

Thank you; as we all know it takes a village !! Please email or text us if you have somthing you can contribute or know a potential sponsor

we can contact.
