Holiday Parade with a ROBOT!
On December 4th, The Phantom Catz participated in the 24th Annual Palos Verdes Peninsula Holiday Parade of Lights. The parade lit up the Peninsula shopping area with amazing holiday floats, marching bands, and partners of the community. The team marched with over forty students and two of its robots, ProSigma and AntiSigma. The holiday themed robots were driven for a section of the parade and rolled by the team for the rest. Members festively wore santa, elf, and reindeer hats in the holiday spirit. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us!
Update from the Panther Mock Trial Team

PVPHS Mock Trial team has completed their season, winning their way to the LA County Finals.

Eighty-four high schools participated in the competition, which had lawyers, witnesses, bailiffs, clerks and a journalist dramatizing a fictional court case - did the defendant place the snake that killed the victim into his mailbox?

Under the guidance of volunteer coaches John Torelli, Adrian Roxas, Sandy Roxas, Willie Wang, Leslie Criswell, and Joanie Gale, the team worked together to win second place in LA County. This is the second time that Pen progressed to the finals.

Throughout the competition, the following students were named MVP: Charlotte Chung, Candace Baik, Chloe Cruickshanks, Charlotte Lew, Justin Liu, Naomi Porter, and Kayden Roxas. Charlotte Lew were named the outstanding prosecution pre-trial attorney of LA County at the awards ceremony.

South Bay Families Connected: Focus on youth wellness

Finally, after a full year of distance learning, some students have, understandably, experienced the return to in-person learning as a social challenge. PVPUSD partner South Bay Families Connected (SBFC), a network of 115 schools in the South Bay, has organized Teaching Social Skills: Resources for Parents and Guardians, which contains a video featuring students at local schools, including PVPHS’s own Rhys Moon, sharing their perspectives regarding the social ups and downs of returning to in-person learning. There you will also find some useful tips to support your children and teens as they develop and refine their own social skills. For related resources, please visit the SBFC Healthy Relationships Page. The SBFC Virtual Teen Center contains a wide variety of mental health and wellness topics. To see more youth wellness resources provided by PVPUSD and SBFC, please visit our own PVPUSD Families Connected
