Happy Autumn Equinox!

For religious and non-religious folks alike, we are entering the season of ritual and ceremony. As winter sets in and survival becomes more challenging, our need for sacred community connection gets stronger.

Even though the actual equinox was a few days ago, it's not too late to celebrate it. HERE you'll find a nice overview for how this seasonal milestone is recognized in several different cultures.

Whether you resonate with a specific spiritual tradition or no have spiritual affinities at all, marking the seasons is a beautiful practice that connects us to the natural ebb and flow of life in the physical (and non-physical) universe.

As you move through the various celebrations in our culture from October - January, keep in mind that the origins of these holidays are rooted in pre-Christian, nature-based belief systems. This is a great opportunity to create your own unique ceremonies and start new traditions!

Sneak Peek at our Conference Videos

For those who missed our July conference, we're offering a few sneak peeks at the video recordings of the conference presentations. This one is from Andrew Jasko, a Princeton Seminary-educated former minister who now helps people recover from religoius trauma and toxic theology. In this presentation, he talks about how one can reject religion while still being a mystic. Scroll to the bottom of this page for information on how to purchase the entire video package.

Native Healing in the Hospital

“Health care among Indigenous people always existed. Then came another system to invalidate our own system... Our intention is that they complement each other. To join both kinds of medicine is not easy. Many Indigenous people perceive public hospitals as yet another state institution that discriminates against their beliefs. Mapuche medicine, based on spirituality, is also different from what doctors are trained for, said José Quidel Lincoleo, director of a center for Mapuche health care studies in Temuco, another southern city with a large Indigenous population."  READ MORE...

Psychedelics and Near-Death Experiences

Take Us to a Similar Place

"For a paper in the open-access journal PLOS ONE, researchers from the Center for Psychedelics and Consciousness Research and Department of Neurosciences at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine compared how attitudes changed after the two types of experience.

"Near-death experiences, or related phenomena such as out-of-body experiences, tend to have a fundamental effect on attitudes to death and dying, previous research has shown. Among the main features of NDEs are sensations of altered time perception, seeing scenes from the past or the future, feelings of joy and peace, a sense of unity with the world, feeling of separation from the physical body, and apparent encounters with mystical beings, deceased spirits or religious figures."  READ MORE...

This Supreme Court’s Dangerous Vision

of "History and Tradition"

"Last month, SCOTUS attacked three standards that have stood for nearly half a century. It has taken a hammer to the wall of separation between church and state, allowed a Southern state to weaken the voting power of African Americans and called into question the right to privacy that secured a right to legal abortion (as well as same-sex marriage, access to contraception and potentially even interracial marriage).

"As troubling as these decisions are, there is an even more dangerous common thread connecting them. This court is systematically erecting a new judicial standard based on an invocation of “history and tradition” that is rooted in a vision of a mythical 1950s white Christian America." READ MORE...

How to Process the Death of Someone

Who Has Negatively Affected Your Life

"There’s a strong cultural taboo against speaking ill of the dead, largely because they can’t defend themselves. If you feel relief that someone is gone, or you can’t help reflecting on the not-so-wonderful parts about the person, it’s easy to be self-critical.

"Instead of doing that, cut yourself some slack, said M. Katherine Shear, a professor of psychiatry at Columbia University and the founding director of The Center for Complicated Grief at the Columbia School of Social Work. It’s really OK to have minimal or absent grief, or even to feel relief when someone who hurt you has died."  READ MORE...

Honoring Grief and Loss

Through Mindfulness and Sacred Ceremony

The Omega Institute

Rhinebeck, NY, Oct. 14 - 16

SIX CE CREDIT HOURS

FOR NURSES, SOCIAL WORKERS, PSYCHOLOGISTS AND MORE!

If you are mourning the death of a loved one or a loss of any kind, including divorce, job loss, pet loss, health loss, or any major life transition, this workshop provides a rare emotional learning experience via interactive processes and sacred rituals for navigating the grief journey.

Participants will be led to deeper healing by moving toward internal transformation as opposed to focusing on external events. We do this through guided meditation and gentle body work, along with ritual and ceremony, which gives form to the formless and converts unseen healing energies into practical tools. Find comfort and support in an array of healing practices and multicultural traditions for working with grief, including yoga, meditation, art therapy, music therapy, and sacred ceremony.  DETAILS HERE.

Online Holiday Season Grief Support Group

This twice-monthly online support group offers the opportunity to talk about your loss experience and learn from others in a safe, supportive setting facilitated by a professional grief and loss counselor. In these sessions, you will be introduced to specific tools and processes for getting through the holidays by honoring your grief rather than allowing it to devastate you.

Our meetings will be based on the principles taught in Dr. Daniel's popular Grief as a Mystical Journey workshops, which are designed to help participants move toward internal transformation rather than focusing on external events. In addition to open discussion and sharing, each meeting will end with a therapeutic process, such as a guided meditation, mapping exercise or sacred ceremony for moving the “stuck” energy of grief out of our bodies and into a more spacious, more ventilated emotional landscape. Good News for Fans of Terri Daniel's 2007 book,

A Swan in Heaven: Conversations Between Two Worlds

Those of you who've been following Terri Daniel's work for many years will likely be familiar with her extraordinay channeled book, A Swan in Heaven. Over the years, Terri has been asked hundreds of times if there was an audio version. Finally, this year, she decided to create one with the intention of publishing it on September 8, 2022... the date that marks 16 years since her son's Danny's death (the same number of years that he was alive). A perfect tribute to such a powerful milestone!

She missed her deadline by one day... the audio version came out on September 9, and it is now available on Amazon and Audible.

If you're already familiar with the book, you'll love hearing it read in Terri's voice, and you'll also love the young actor who reads Danny's voice. Even if you're not familiar with it (and you love spirituality and after-death communication), you'll definitely want to add it to your metaphysical library!
