GCNCA -- IConnect strives to improve social interaction and eliminate barriers for older adults by offering technology education and engaging in-person and online programming. Older adults are linked to culturally relevant experiences and activities. These activities foster socialization, fun and learning through various platforms.

Culturally Relevant Experiences and Activities:

One of the key aspects of IConnect’s approach is tailoring experiences and activities to suit the preferences and backgrounds of the older adults it serves. By doing so, the organization ensures that the engagements are enjoyable and culturally meaningful. From virtual tours of historical sites to engaging in crafts and hobbies, IConnect curates a very diverse range of experiences, keeping participants excited and engaged.

Holy Redeemer Paint-n-Sip:

Recently, IConnect ventured into the Collinwood neighborhood and held a Paint-n-Sip at Holy Redeemer Apartment building. The event offered older adults the chance to unleash their inner artist and connect with like-minded peers. Guided by the IConnect Program Director, the participants created their very own works of art, fostering a sense of achievement.

Embracing Various Platforms:

IConnect understands that each older adult has unique preferences when it comes to communication. Some may prefer the familiarity of a telephone call (Buddy Call Program), while others may be enthusiastic about embracing digital devices (Zoom Programs). In-person interactions, especially at “pop-up” sites, are also encouraged for those who prefer face-to-face connections. By offering multiple platforms, IConnect ensures that no one is left out and that everyone can partake in the enriching experiences it provides.

How to Get Involved with IConnect:

If you’re interested in having IConnect bring its inspiring programs and activities to your location or if you know an older adult who could benefit from this initiative, reaching out to IConnect is simple. Contact the organization through the website https://www.gcnca.org/; telephone: 216-727-3821 or email: dbrown@gcnca.org
