UPDATE NUMBER 1

DATE: NOVEMBER 7

TIME: 7:00PM

"It ain't over 'till it's over!"

Yogi Berra

Hurricane season doesn't end until November 30th, and just off our coast there is a pending reminder.

We are keeping a close watch on Sub-tropical storm Nicole. A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for our area.

Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area. A watch is typically issued 48 hours before the anticipated first occurrence of tropical-storm-force winds, conditions that make outside preparations difficult or dangerous.

This is a very late storm just off our coast. We urge you to act with urgency as there is only a short amount of time to prepare.

Tropical storm conditions are possible beginning late Wednesday. A dangerous storm surge is possible across much of the east coast of Florida. The storm surge will be accompanied by large and damaging waves.

Do not focus on the exact track of Nicole since it is expected to be a large storm with hazards extending well to the north of the center, outside of the forecast cone. These hazards are likely to affect our area.

Nicole will produce heavy rainfall in our area by Wednesday night and Thursday.

In the event our area is impacted by the storm, we will provide frequent updates on changes to our services and facilities. Each update will be numbered and have the date and time of release to ensure you are reading the latest information.
