We will be offering this blessing and distributing roses to the mothers of our communities at the weekend Masses. | |
Blessing of Mothers
on Mother’s Day
Loving God, as a mother gives life and nourishment to her children, so You watch over Your Church. Bless these women, that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Please Pray for
Fr. Dan Hessling
Admitted to St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee
| |
|
Last Monday, Fr. Dan Hessling was admitted to St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee. Doctors have told Fr. Dan that he has been diagnosed with cancer. Fr. Dan has asked for your prayers and support during this time. Feel free to send cards to Fr. Dan Hessling, either directly to St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee or to St. Patrick's Church (119 N. Market Street in Momence). Because of limited visitors that St. Mary's allows, we ask that you not visit Fr. Dan without calling first. May God bless Fr. Dan for his good ministry to the Church.

Over the past few years, the St. Pio Foundation has supported the Catholic Church by sponsoring tours of the relics of St. Pio of Pietrelcina, more commonly as Padre Pio. Approximately one million faithful in the United States, Canada and Mexico have attended the tours of the relics. The vast majority of those attending these tours would never have been able to travel to San Giovanni Rotondo or Pietrelcina (as Fr. Pete did in 2007) to visit the places where he was born, lived and died, and at the same time the opportunity to have a “spiritual encounter” with him, to pray to him and to ask for his intercession.
Today, more than ever, the need for healing and hope is great, in light of all that has happened in every corner of our nation, the St. Pio Foundation decided to expand the opportunity to host the relics of St. Pio to every American parish so that the faithful, whether they live in a city, small town or village, may have the opportunity to venerate these holy relics and to ask for St. Pio’s intercession and healing.
The first-class relics that will be available for vernation are a crust of St. Pio’s wounds, cotton gauze stained with St. Pio’s blood and a lock of St. Pio’s hair.

From February 8-17, Fr. Pete led a group of thirty-four members of the Border Town Parishes and the Camino y Esperanza Retreat House on some of the most spiritual places our Lord walked some two thousand years ago. The spirit of this particular group often played out the life of our Lord, modeling the type of passion, death and resurrection our Lord offered in their prayers and joy of heart in the life of a Christian. Thanks to Ana and Eileen Rivas for making this trip possible for our Border Town Pilgrims. All pictures can be accessed on the parish website.
