Dear ABFE Members:

ABFE is pleased to announce a call for nominations for new Board Members. We are also accepting self-nominations for the 2022 Board cycle.

ABFE's mission is to promote effective and responsive philanthropy in Black communities.

Our objectives are to:

  • Grow Black leadership and participation within organized philanthropy
  • Enhance the effectiveness of philanthropic leaders and institutions that fund and invest in Black communities
  • Increase the allocation of philanthropic resources that address priority issues in Black communities

For the upcoming Board cycle, we will prioritize candidates with a commitment to Black communities who bring expertise in these specific areas:

  • Fundraising (especially support in strategies to increase fund development over time)
  • Investment
  • Finance
  • Individual Philanthropists
  • Racial Equity and Social Justice
  • Representation from the Southern region of the United States

To further our mission, we are looking for diverse candidates (age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, and diverse representation across the African diaspora).

Board members are expected to fully participate in working committees and are required to financially contribute to the organization.

The deadline for submission is Wednesday, December 1st, 2021. The application form can be downloaded here and emailed to boardnominations@abfe.org

Please note:

1) Only current ABFE members may nominate someone for a Board position

2) If voted onto the Board, the nominee must currently be or become an ABFE member prior to joining the Board.
