Below are some helpful tips and reminders to guarantee a successful service experience!

* No cell phone use during service activities
What to Wear:
- Wear appropriate, professional clothing.
- Close-toed shoes.
- JCU wear is fine if the context allows it.
- Mask for in-person service if the site requires it.
- Do not wear tank tops, ripped jeans, yoga pants, sweats, shorts, or open-toed shoes.
- If you have an active service activity, it is fine to wear athletic attire. No yoga pants or tanks.
Where to Meet the Van:
- At the crosswalk between the O'Malley building and Grasselli Library (Listed below).

Virtual Service
- Watch your email for a Zoom link.
- Make sure to have your first name showing only (Liaisons can help you change your names).

Use a CSSA virtual background. If you are unable to, sit behind a blank wall.

Final Call to Get Involved with Carroll Ballers!
|
The Carroll Ballers program is a unique service opportunity that combines the game of basketball with an original mentoring program for male residents of the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center (CCJDC). The goal is peer-to-peer mentoring and support to help residents choose a productive path after their time at the CCJDC.
Spots are filling fast and only a few spots remain.

National Voter Registration Day
September 20th is National Voter Registration Day. One of the most important rights of an American Citizen is voting. Embrace the power that you have to make your voice heard and impact society to make changes.

"Carroll Calculates" tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with 5th grade students at Gearity Elementary School on mathematics skills. Tutors will be supervised by a Gearity staff member and work with students in math remediation. Tutors are responsible for helping students process new information and refine their existing skills while providing them with positive encouragement and confidence.
**Only sign up if you have a positive attitude toward mathematics.

One-Time Service Opportunities are Starting!
Have a busy schedule, but still want to participate in service? Check out our One-Time Service Opportunities that we offer throughout the semester!
Our first opportunity is at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, beginning on Monday, September 26 from 5:30-8:30pm.

The Technology and Digital Literacy Intern will help train, educate and provide direct technical assistance to the Fatima Center Staff, youth, and seniors in their programs.
The intern will serve as a technology resource in training seniors and Fatima Staff in the use of computers, software platforms, and social media uses. They will deepen the engagement and confidence of youth, seniors, and staff in using technology for essential tasks and functions.
The intern will report to Ms. LaJean Ray, Director of the Fatima Family Center. The intern will be hired for the fall semester, with the possibility for renewal in spring depending on performance.

Requirements and desired skills
- Proficient in the use of computers
- Exceptional customer service skills and patience
- Ability to explain and teach concepts in clear and simple terms
- Highly dependable and proficient in troubleshooting and problem-solving
Schedule
- 15 hours/week; scheduled during the hours of 9:00 am-6:00 pm Monday through Friday
- Work is to be performed in person at the Fatima Family Center, 6600 Lexington, Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44103
- Pay rate is $11/hr

Ignatian Family Teach-In Application
Join us in Washington, D.C. October 22-24! The Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice is an annual conference that takes place in Washington, D.C. every fall. The Teach-In hosts around 2,000 young people eager to learn and work for a faith that does justice. The Teach-In has a rich history rooted in honoring the Jesuits and their companions who were martyred in El Salvador in 1989. In fact, this year is the 25th anniversary of the Teach-In. Will your voice be included? Will you be a part of this movement toward social change?
Cost is $100 ( includes hotel, transportation, conference registration, and some meals).
