Dear Friend,

Join us in celebrating National Farmers Market Week!

Berkshire Agricultural Ventures (BAV) takes great pride in supporting our local farmers, farmers markets, and SNAP recipients.

Our Market Match Fund, established to enhance the buying power of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) at farmers markets, is entering its second year of operation and has already made a profound impact on our communities.

In just two years, BAV has provided $258,000 directly to 11 area farmers markets!

By supporting SNAP participants at farmers markets, we significantly enhance the buying power of food-insecure and low-income households.

What sets BAV's Market Match Fund apart and makes it even more impactful is the absence of restrictions on the types of local food items that can be purchased. If our farmers produce it, people can buy it!

This approach not only empowers individuals to choose what's best for them, but it also gives all farms an opportunity to benefit from SNAP sales. The Market Match Fund is a win-win for everyone involved.

Would you like to take action and help expand access to locally grown, fresh food to all people, regardless of their income level? You can make a difference!

Join us in our mission to continue expanding access to fresh, nutrient-dense, locally produced food across the Berkshire-Taconic region. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of both farmers and members of our community.

North Adams Farmers Market

For over a decade the North Adams Farmers Market has offered SNAP/EBT incentives as a step to reduce the cost barrier to healthy local foods in the community. The North Adams market was one of the first markets BAV supported through the Market Match Fund.

"Accepting SNAP is a cornerstone of our market and we will work hard to make sure we can match those benefits as much and as often as possible. Market Match is incredibly important to our community, both customers and farmers. The program would not have been the huge success it was this past year without BAV's support. We have never been able to offer the program to this extent before."
