September 21 2022
Bible Verse for 2022-2023: When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. – Isaiah 43:2
Parent-Teacher Conferences – Thursday, October 6 and Friday, October 7
In-person, Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, October 6 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Friday, October 7, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. School is closed for students on Friday, October 7, 2022. The sign-up link for Parent-Teacher conferences will be available in next Wednesday's Weekly Update.
PSAT Testing – Wednesday, October 12, 2022
Students in grades 8 -11 will take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 12, from 8:00 am. until 12:15 pm. Students will be dismissed from school at 12:15 pm. All students must report to their assigned testing classroom and be ready for taking the PSAT before the 8:00 am. start time. There is no make-up date for PSAT.

All students will need the following items for the PSAT:
  1. No. 2 pencils with erasers. The College Board requires no. 2 pencils; mechanical pencils are not allowed for testing.
  2. Battery, handheld scientific or graphing calculator. (See list of approved calculators at https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt/taking-the-test/what-to-bring-leave/calculator-policy)

Students in grades 8 and 9 take the PSAT 8/9. The PSAT 8/9 tests reading, writing, and math skills. The PSAT 8/9 gives families and teachers valuable information students’ academic strengths and weaknesses.Students’ score report will pinpoint exactly what they need to work on to graduate from high school and be ready for college.

Students in grades 10 and 11 take the PSAT/NMSQT. The PSAT/NMSQT measures the knowledge and skills in reading, writing, and math students learn in the classroom, which is the same knowledge and skills your child needs to succeed in college and career.

The PSAT does not affect college admissions applications, but it is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program. (Concordia Prep had a National Merit Scholarship winner in the Class of 2022!) Some of the highest scoring students may win scholarship money, so while students should not stress about taking the PSAT, students should not ignore it. Students can use the PSAT as practice for the SAT and ACT and a guide in preparing for the college admissions process.
