Spring is here!
The trees are blooming and yard projects have begun! SCC provides for light garden and yard work for all full members. Need your beds or pots refreshed, compost turned or mulch spread? Call us today to schedule 980-689-1843.
Thanks to all who joined us at the Cornelius Arts Center for the exhibit featuring local artists followed by pizza lunch in March.

1st Friday Breakfasts: Friday, April 1 at 9am
Join us for food and fellowship on each first Friday. We will meet at The Egg in Davidson (231 Griffith St.) from 9-11am. Meet your fellow SCC members and be entered into a fun drawing to celebrate spring! Pay for your own, we are happy to pick you up if you need a ride.RSVP by the Monday prior to Sue Winter-Hallman and Janet Makee at seniorslkn@gmail.com.

Farmer's Market Outing: Saturday, April 9 at 10:30am
Join the seniors group from Temple Kol Tikvah for a festive outing. Meet at the Davidson Farmer's Market to shop for fresh produce and flowers. Enjoy coffee and company after at Summit Coffee. Contact Sylvia Gabrieli for questions or rsvp.

3rd Wednesday Walk: Wednesday, April 20 at 1pm
We all need to keep moving, let's go together! Meet at the River Run Athletic Field parking lot, we will walk the South Prong of the Greenway, off of Robert Walker Dr. and Davidson Concord Rd. Davidson. Please bring your own water bottle, hat and sunscreen if needed.  RSVP to seniorslkn@gmail.com if you need a ride and so that we can contact you in the event of inclement weather.

Concert on the Green: Sunday, April 24 at 5:45pm
Join us for the Davidson College Band & Jazz Ensemble at the Concert on the Green. Snacks and drinks provided. If able, bring a lawn chair and look for our SCC banner on our tent. RSVP by April 19th for seniorslkn@gmail.com if you need a ride. If it is raining, we will go to Carolina Cones for some dessert.

Yoga & Meditation: Tuesday & Thursdays at 9am
Make time to take care of yourself. Join our volunteer, Laurie Walker, for meditation and/or yoga online. In addition to whatever is going on in your personal life, we are all living in the middle of so many converging issues – health, geopolitical, environmental, and more. If we are going to thrive – we have to increase our resilience. Regular yoga practice is a powerful vehicle to do just this.

The next Yoga Class Session begins this Tuesday!

You will find tools of breath, movement, and meditation that promote a sense of calm resilience.
  • Yoga classes are on Zoom Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 1 - April 14th at 9:00 a.m. EST.*
  • Meditation Circle meets Tuesdays from March 1st - April 12th at 10:15 EST.*
      *No classes on March 3 and 10

Play Bridge: Thursdays, 12:30-4pm
Join the Lake Norman Bridge Center on Thursdays, 12:30-4pm, at Cornelius Town Hall if you have an interest in learning the game of bridge or want to develop your playing, bidding, and defense skills! All ages and skill levels are welcome. $5 per day, pay at the door. SCC can provide a ride for you!

Senior Living: Stay Safe in Rainy Weather

  • Check/replace windshield wipers often
  • Avoid wet overpasses and bridges when possible 
  • Keep basic emergency items inside car
  • Call SCC to ask about transportation services! 
  • Wear boots with non-skid soles
  • Remove footwear immediately when returning indoors
  • For cane users, replace rubber tip before it’s worn smooth 
  • Choose a fun rainy day activity to complete- read, watch a movie, play chess, or complete a puzzle
  • Try virtual yoga through SCC to get exercise on rainy days!
