Dear Residents –

It is hard to believe that we are already in the last days of October. With only 27 days to Thanksgiving, that means that Chanukah, Christmas, Kwanza and the end of 2022 are all right around the corner. And, just like that, I will be starting my 4th year as your Town Supervisor. Boy, time really does fly!

But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, we don’t want to leave out the spookiest holiday of all, Halloween. And don't forget that the Nyack Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their annual parade on Saturday, October 29ththe Pearl River Chamber of Commerce will host their annual Trick or Treat on Central Avenue from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Halloween (click here for details), and that the Orangeburg Volunteer Fire Department will have their parade on Monday evening.

Unfortunately, it also means that we are only 55 days away from the official start of winter, a good time to start preparing your home for the cold weather. Not sure what to do? Consider servicing your heating system or replacing the air filters in the furnace for maximum efficiency. You can also check windows and doors for drafts and caulk where necessary to keep heat from escaping. For more steps that you can take to prepare your home for the winter, check out this link.

As a reminder, early voting starts this Saturday, October 29, and runs through November 6. You can vote at any Town Hall, at the Fire Training Center or Pascack Community Center. Hours vary day to day, so please check before you go. Election Day is at your usual poll site on November 8, from 6 am to 9 pm. I know that it’s crazy that I still have to say this, but please get out and exercise your Constitutional right to vote.

Wishing one of my favorite staff members, Carmel Reilly, a great run in the Dublin Marathon this Sunday!

Enjoy your Halloween, no matter what age you are.

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny

On October 20, 2022, Supervisor Kenny attended the annual Brinks Memorial Ceremony to remember Sergeant Edward O'Grady, Police Officer Waverly (Chipper) Brown and Brinks Guard Peter Paige. These brave men stood up against domestic terrorism and gave their lives protecting the residents of Rockland County. It is an important reminder of the threats members of law enforcement face every day.

Homes For Heroes Grand Opening and Project Dedication Ceremony

Supervisor Kenny attended the Grand Opening of the "Homes for Heroes Green Infrastructure Project." The path around the project was dedicated to John Allen Murphy, former 12-term, 44-year Rockland County Legislator and longtime advocate for the developmentally disabled. The new walking path around the storm water retention pond will forever be known as the "Captain John Allen Murphy Pathway."

Parking on Wet Leaves

The Orangetown Police Department would like to remind everyone to avoid parking their cars on leaf piles. Fall is here and residents are preparing for leaf removal by moving their leaves to the curb. If you park your car on a leaf pile the hot exhaust pipes on your car are hot enough to potentially ignite the leaves and set your car on fire.
