CherryRoad Media acquires Missouri newspapers from News-Press & Gazette Company


Family-owned News-Press & Gazette Company announced today that it has sold its newspapers located outside of St. Joseph to CherryRoad Media.


Dirks, Van Essen & April, a media merger and acquisition firm based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, represented News-Press & Gazette Company in the transaction. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

News Media Corporation sells Colorado cluster to Louie Mullen


News Media Corporation has sold its Colorado cluster of newspapers to Louie Mullen. The sale included Valley Courier daily in Alamosa, Monte Vista Journal, The Del Norte Prospector, The Conejos County Citizen, Center Post-Dispatch, The Mineral County Miner, The South Fork Times and SLV Lifestyles.

The Oregonian to cut print days to 4 a week


The Oregonian/OregonLive will discontinue printing a newspaper on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, bringing an end to 142 years of daily print publication early next year.


The change takes effect Jan. 1. It is not expected to affect news staffing or news gathering operations. The newsroom will continue to publish digital editions of the newspaper, and stories on OregonLive, seven days a week.

Daily Herald (Provo, Utah) celebrates 150 years of daily newspaper publishing


It is not often a newspaper, or any business for that matter, can celebrate 150 years of consecutive service to its community, but now the Daily Herald can.

Durango Herald welcomes new deputy editor


The Durango (Colorado) Herald recently welcomed its new deputy editor, who looks to emphasize more solution-based and enterprise journalism.


Matt Hollinshead, who grew up in Centennial, started his duties on July 28 after spending the last year as assistant editor of the Beaumont Enterprise in Beaumont, Texas.

McClatchy has named Carlos Virgen as senior editor at The Modesto (California) Bee, starting Aug. 21. He has spent the past 10 years as assistant managing editor for audience development at The Day of New London, Connecticut.
