Here it is April already, where has this year gone? I can’t believe I am nearing my end as President of
IAHU. It has been my pleasure serving as your President. But I am not done yet!! We have many things coming up that will make this year the best yet.
The end of February we had several people attend Cap Conference in Washington, D.C. (Click HERE for the press release) We had great representation from all the chapters and were able to make contact with all of our legislators. We didn’t have a ton to discuss with them but had some great conversations with them or the assistants. Since that time there have been a couple of Operation Shouts. Make sure you are responding to and taking part in them. They make a huge difference to our causes.
In the month of April we have our annual symposium. This year it will be held at Wahooz in Meridian. We have a packed schedule of speakers and CE. Get signed up, you won’t be sorry. We also have a great meeting planned with YHI the day before the symposium for them to show us the new system
coming in June. Come get the sneak peak! We will also be raffling off the chance to win a trip. There are 5 great places you can choose from to make it an awesome vacation. Click HERE for more information.
In June we have the National Conference to be held in Austin, TX, June 25th-28th. If you have never attended one, it is must to help grow your business and knowledge. Idaho will also be hosting the Region 7 Conference in Boise, Aug 23rd-25th at the Boise Center on the Grove and the Grove Hotel. Check out our website for more information.

From The Professional Development Team
The IAHU Professional Development Chairs brainstormed and decided it would be a good idea to hear what the members would like to learn more about!! Here are the results so far...thank you to all that has helped us, so far. We were pleasantly surprised when we found "legislative" to be by far the top topic that was voted on!
The poll is still active; the more people respond to the survey, the more accurate snapshot we will have, to help us bring in speakers & topics that will interest you. If you have not completed the survey yet, please provide your valuable feedback by clicking here: https://bit.ly/SpeakerTopicsSurvey

Treasure Valley Association of Health Underwriters
Lis Brown - President
|
|
The Treasure Valley Association of Health Underwriters made some positive contributions to our community, our culture, and each other during the first quarter of 2022. While our communities are slowly starting to reopen, we have been able to hold in-person meetings that have strengthened our ties to this great organization, and have been able to reconnect with our peers. Here are some highlights of our accomplishments from the first quarter of 2022.
January Membership Drive
Our January membership drive brought on a few new members while ringing in the new year. Growing our TVAHU membership starts with word-of-mouth by our fellow members. The success of our organization is due in large part to our members actively going out into the community and showing others what value NAHU can provide to them.
Day On The Hill
|
|
TVAHU was joined at the Idaho State Capitol by IAHU members from across our great state for the annual Day on the Hill event in early February. We were fortunate enough to have some great speakers who provided us with a pulse check of where we were at in regards to the status of the insurance industry, as well as what direction we are heading. Some of those speakers and agencies included the Department of Insurance, Your Health Idaho, Cory Jorbin with HUB International, Rep. Rod Furniss (District 35), and Rep. Ilana Rubel (District 18). Each speaker took time out of their busy schedules to join us and provide amazing insights in respect to their various occupations or positions in which they hold.
Any TVHAU day on the hill would not be complete without a reception where we can get together and discuss the day with our peers. This year we held our reception at the Crystal Ballroom which is only steps away from the capitol building. Those that were able to attend the reception were able to reconnect with others in the community after a long hiatus due to COVID.
Capitol Conference
The Annual Capitol Conference, in Washington DC, could have been attended either in person or virtually this year and Idaho members showed up in spades. Cap Con enabled members to engage in conversation ranging from broker compensation to Medicare trends. We were also fortunate enough to meet with our state representatives at the national level. We had 11 TVAHU members attending in person or virtually, which allowed us to show that TVAHU is not messing around when it comes to the dedication that we have to NAHU.
City Light Women's and Children's Shelter Check
|
|
The TVAHU Annual Charity Breakfast and Silent Auction was a success for 2021! As the community service chair, it was an honor and privilege to give back to our community. Our organization was able to raise a total of $9,481 for City Light Women’s and Children’s Shelter! This includes the generous cash match donation from Fredrickson Insurance. The silent auction was all virtual which allowed for an expanded audience and more competitive bidding! The breakfast was in person at Beside Bardenay in Downtown Boise which was great to see everyone and celebrate the holiday season together. The speakers were some of the women from City Light that shared their success stories and what the organization means to them. None of this would be possible without the support of our board AND membership. Thank you to everyone that participated from donating baskets, buying tickets to the breakfast and cash donations!
Your Health Idaho Pizza Party
On Friday, March 4th The Treasure Valley Association of Health Underwriters surprised Your Health Idaho with a pizza party! We wanted to thank them for being a fantastic supporter of TVAHU, and joining us for the Day on the Hill as well as our February membership meeting. We look forward to great things coming from Your Health Idaho this 4th quarter.

I enjoyed attending NAIFA/IAHU Day on the Hill. My morning started off with a continuing education training presented by Idaho Department of Insurance on the new Idaho Medicare supplement changes. The afternoon was full of informative speakers at the State Capital, including legislators, Idaho Department of Insurance, Benn Brocksome IAHU lobbyist, Pat Kelly with YHI and others. It was encouraging and inspiring to see the relationships our association has worked hard to develop. This enables us to participate in conversations that shape our Health Insurance industry in Idaho and without your membership, this would not be possible. Thank you!
