Policy
ANAC joins ANA in support of new legislation
ANAC joins ANA in calling on the Senate to support the Workplace Violence Bill.
One in four nurses report having been assaulted at work. Tragically, last week, three health care professionals were fatally assaulted in their workplace facilities while caring for patients. On Oct. 23, Jacqueline Ama Pokuaa and nurse Annette Flowers were shot and killed in a maternal-child unit at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. On Oct. 18, nurse June Onkunki was fatally stabbed by a patient in Durham, North Carolina.

Send a message to your elected officials to support the Workplace Violence Bill. #EndNurseAbuse

JANAC
The publisher of Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (JANAC) is currently offering two articles about monkeypox to the general public, free of charge for one month. They describe epidemiological and clinical aspects and examine stigma related to monkeypox and actions nurses can take in stigma prevention.

Research
Please participate in short surveys
Trans survey
The U.S. Trans Survey is the largest survey of trans people, by trans people, in the United States. The USTS documents the lives and experiences of trans and nonbinary people ages 16+ in the U.S. and U.S. territories. This study has been commissioned by the National Center for Transgender Equality. If you or your friends, family or patients identify as trans or nonbinary, please participate in this survey.
Provider survey
Nurses and nurse practitioners who care for women living with HIV are invited to participate in this provider survey about the antiretroviral pregnancy registry. It takes 2-3 minutes. Let's have the experiences of nurses be a part of data collection!

ANAC members honored by American Academy of Nursing
This year, the contributions of an extraordinary ANAC member, William (Bill) Holzemer, RN, PhD, FAAN, are celebrated, as he is recognized as a Living Legend of the Academy of Nursing. Each year, the Academy recognizes a small group of fellows as Living Legends in honor of their extraordinary contributions to the nursing profession, sustained over the course of their careers. Bill is a thought leader in HIV/AIDS issues and research and was a founder of the International Nursing Network for HIV Research, an affiliate of ANAC. His early work on HIV associated stigma forms the basis for much of our understanding of its impact on people living with HIV.
