Back to School Traffic Reminders

Several locations in the area of Cowles Montessori School are posted as no parking or restricted parking areas. The map below outlines the no parking areas with a red line, and the restricted parking areas in yellow. These areas will be strictly enforced by the Windsor Heights Police Department.

The City of Windsor Heights Code prohibits stopping, standing or parking in areas with posted no parking signs, in front or within three feet of a curb cut for a driveway, and/or within 10 feet of any stop sign. Vehicles are not allowed to stage in these areas.

The Windsor Heights Police Department is committed to the safety of those in our community. Windsor Heights officers will issue citations to any driver in violation of the parking ordinances. Motorists are encouraged to be patient when traveling in the area. Together, we can ensure the safety of our children and those driving in the area.

City of Windsor Heights buildings will be closed Monday, September 6th in observance of Labor Day. Trash/recycling/yard waste pickup will be pushed back one day to Saturday the 11th.

Please Pick Up After Your Pets

It's a violation of City Code 55.04 to not pick up after your dog if they leave their mess in your neighbor's yard. Please remember to be courteous of your neighbors and bring a bag with you on your next walk.

Fire Pits Prohibited

Open burning is not allowed in the City of Windsor Heights (City Code 105.05). That means that residents cannot have fire pits. Outdoor chimenea fireplaces where there's a chimney or stack for the smoke to go through are allowed.

A Great National Night Out

We had an amazing time at National Night Out 2021 on August 3rd in Colby Park! Thank you for joining in the fun and bringing our community together! It was a great night, beautiful weather, and we enjoyed the Windsor Heights Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year/Business of the Year presentations along with the Nights in the Heights Concert afterwards.

Summer in the Heights

From Movies in the Park to Nights in the Heights, it's been a fantastic summer to live in Windsor Heights! Thank you to the Windsor Heights Foundation for putting on another successful Nights in the Heights concert series. This is a much loved tradition in our community. We also appreciate the youth staff from the Franklin Ave Library giving great performances during Storytime in the Park and providing entertaining arts and science activities during Summer Science and Art on the Green in Colby Park. Thank you to the Windsor Heights Chamber of Commerce for the Fourth of July parade. And we greatly appreciate our City Councilmembers, volunteers, businesses, and citizens who helped make Movies in the Park a favorite!

Colby Park was packed for the August 3rd Nights in the Heights concert series presented by the Windsor Heights Foundation.

Families grabbed their spot early for the June 18th Movies in the Park showing of the Goonies.

The Franklin Ave Library Youth staff brought songs and stories for Storytime in the Park on June 25th.

While many items are recyclable through the Curb It! program, not everything can be tossed in your cart. Here are a few items that often end up in the recycling cart that actually should be thrown away.

Have your next event at the Windsor Heights Community Center! Windsor Heights residents receive a 25% discount off of the rental fee. This signature facility can seat over 200 people. Since opening in 2010, the facility has hosted wedding receptions, birthday parties, corporate meetings, and countless other events.
