A Southern Baptist Association

From Your

Associational Mission Strategist

July was a very busy month and God has worked in great and awesome ways. I rejoice for what God did during our overnight Girls and Boy’s Camps. We didn’t have as many campers as in previous years, but God did a great work in many lives. We had five salvations in our girl’s camps and many of the other campers grew in their walk with the Lord. I want to thank all of the churches who supported our camps by providing supplies and cooking and serving the meals. We could not do this ministry without the support of our churches. I am also thankful for the Directors and Camp Missionaries who gave their time to invest in the lives of the campers.

As I am writing this article, I just returned from Norristown, PA with seven others who went and ministered and shared the Gospel. We had the opportunity to tell residents about the new church plant and about the upcoming Street Festival that is taking place on August 19th. We also prayer-walked the Middle School and High School. There were several Gospel conversations, and we are praying that God will work in each life that heard the Gospel. Please pray for the team that will be going to Norristown to help with the Street Festival August 18-20. We anticipate there will be many people from the community that will come, and we know that they will hear the Gospel! Please pray that many will respond and give their lives to Christ!

I am looking forward to our Association's Annual Meeting that will be held at FBC Cordele on September 10th. We are trying something new this year for the time of our business session and worship service. We will have our Business Session for messengers elected by their churches at 5:00 pm and we anticipate this session will last approximately 20-30 minutes. There will be an item of business that will come from our By-Laws committee in regard to added verbiage regarding our Statement of Faith. We will also be voting on the election of Moderator and Vice-Moderator, our Annual Budget, and the Nominating Committee Report.

We will have a fellowship time with light refreshments that will begin around 5:15 and we will begin our time of worship at 6:00 pm. I am very excited about this year’s theme. The theme for this year is “Restore Us” which is based on the scripture from Psalm 80:19, “Restore Us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved”. The message from God’s word will be brought by Rev. Jeremy Barrett (Pastor of Riverview Baptist) and Dr. J. Robert White (former Executive Director of the GBMB). We will also be having activities for children grades 1-5 and for youth grades 6-12. Please make plans to attend this year! This is a great time for our churches to come together to conduct business and most importantly worship together! I look forward to seeing you there!

What to do with all those old Sunday School books?

Don’t throw them away–bring them to SCBN Office

Bring your old SS literature to SCBN Center. Chad Harris will take it to an Edwin L. Hodges Ministries collection site to send overseas. ELHM is a Christian literature ministry that collects donated Bibles, books, magazines, tapes, and tracts from American Christians and ships them to Bible schools, churches, missionaries, and ministries overseas. ELHM is a non-denominational, nonprofit, evangelical ministry.
