Township Updates
Our Senior Services department offers assistance in filing out applications for the Benefits Access Program. This includes Senior Ride Free Transit Benefit, Person with Disability Free Transit Ride, and Secretary of State License Plate Discount. To apply online Click Here, or visit the Senior department at one of our three locations.
You MUST be a Special Service client to attend any special service events. All events are free to resident clients and $10.00 fee for out-of-township clients. Township ID required upon admission.

2021 tax year exemption applications are still available for new applicants. If you have applied for an exemption in the past, most existing exemptions will roll over. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic “Senior Freeze” Exemption, Persons with Disabilities Exemption, and Veterans with Disabilities Exemption will also automatically roll over until further notice.

Appeals for Thornton Township residents are closed with the board of review.

For assistance or questions regarding your existing tax bill come into our office from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm or call 708-596-6040 Ext. 3175.
  • Instructors must possess a Bachelor's Degree (related field preferred) & 2 years teaching experience
  • Assistants must be at least 16 years old, and a high school or college student with a GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Volunteers must be at least 14 years old
  • Instructor pay is at least $20/hour; Assistant pay is at least $10/hour, Volunteer is non paid

Here's a recap of our Women's History Awards Ceremony
On Sunday March 20, 2022, notable women from Illinois were honored for their achievements and advancements in their respective industries. Township residents, elected officials, friends, and family all attended the event hosted at Thornton Township Hall in support of each honoree. With more than 200 registered guest, Supervisor Henyard commenced a full serviced program with music, catered food, entertainment, and several inspirational acceptance speeches.
