NSGA Opposes Surtax Which Could Hurt Small Businesses
The National Sporting Goods Association (NSGA) sent a letter in late July to US Senate leaders Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell urging the Senators to block a proposed business tax which allegedly closes a “loophole” and funds Medicare. NSGA opposes a 3.8% surtax on business income because of the potential damage to small businesses. NSGA urges you to contact your federal elected officials on this issue.



Survey: Inflation Having Substantial Impact on Small Businesses
A National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) survey said more than half of small employers reported inflation is having a substantial impact on their business. The data from the survey included specific costs, absorbing costs, prices and more.

Report: Nearly 60 Percent of Retailers at Risk of Shutting Down
Nearly half of small business owners, including 59 percent of retailers, say they are at risk of shutting down by the fall, according to research from Alignable. Reasons include inflation, higher gas prices, supply chain issues and fears of a recession.

Adidas has decided to not renew its deal with the National Hockey League (NHL) to be its official supplier of uniforms and apparel when its agreement expires after the 2023-24 season.
