Announcement:

"Choose Your Major" is a special package of advertising that GAMG sells to GS colleges and departments in Statesboro Edition Oct. 21, The Inkwell Edition Oct. 21, and a special newsletter Oct. 25.

This is the reason why you may be asked to hand out papers. It is vitally important that our on-campus advertisers see a lot of people with this newspaper. We want colleges and departments to buy more ads when we do our Spring "Choose Your Major" edition.

Current Statistics:

  • Confirmed revenue: $5,628. Expected total: $5,965
  • Plus a $1,500 ongoing newsletter campaign from Department of Public Health

Did You Know?

You probably know that student editors have the final say on all articles, photos, videos, etc., published by The George-Anne Media Group. No GS employee (including David) can insist on approving or even seeing content before it's published.

But, did you know there's a process to decide what to do when editors disagree about whether particular words or images should be published? Those questions go to the Executive Board. To learn more, see Article III of the GAMG Executive Board Constitution: HERE!

Asa Baurle GAMG.jpg

What are and have been your positions at The George-Anne Media Group and what does your current position entail?

"My current position is a multimedia journalist working for Your Newsroom. Which is the newest addition to The George-Anne Media Group. My job entails looking for newsworthy stories, conducting and filming interviews, getting b-roll footage, writing a script, voicing over my script, and putting it all together in the form of a news package using editing software like premiere pro."

What are you passionate about?

"I am passionate about finding stories that will matter and have an impact on people. There are stories everywhere, you just have to go out and find them."

Who is your role model or hero, and why?

"My role model is my mom. I cannot think of anyone who has worked harder in their life to provide me and my family with the opportunities I have been presented with. All the while providing unconditional love and support. Basically, tell your mom you love her today if you are able to."

What does your dream career after graduation look like?

"My dream career after graduation is to work at a news station in the Boston market doing what I am doing now."

In your free time, what do you like to do?

"In my free time I like to do a lot of different things depending on the time of day. I try to exercise in the mornings and sneak some video games in late at night after the day is done. I also watch sports, especially with my friends back home. I love to watch football anytime I can."
