Dear Residents -
First and foremost, I would like to welcome the residents of the now former Village of South Nyack to the unincorporated part of Orangetown. We are now a town made up of 8 hamlets (Blauvelt, Orangeburg, Palisades, Pearl River, Sparkill, South Nyack, Tappan and Upper Grandview) and 3 villages (Grand View-on-Hudson, Nyack and Piermont). Thank you to Mayor Christian and the Board of Trustees for working hard to see the dissolution through to conclusion.
This week, Orangetown Town Hall was transformed into a Cass County, North Dakota Courthouse for the filming of a new Showtime series, Three Women. I confess, I had no idea how many people are needed to produce a few short scenes. While at times it was a bit hectic at Town Hall, it brought an excitement and some additional revenue to Orangetown. Both good things! With an expected air date of sometime in late 2022, it will be exciting to see our transformed Town Hall on the television screen.
I look forward to seeing many of you this weekend at Town Hall, where once again we will be working in conjunction with Keep Rockland Beautiful and the Great American Clean-Up. Every year, hundreds of residents come together to clean up our streets. How I wish people would stop littering but, until that day comes, I appreciate all of you who give up a Saturday morning to help "Keep Orangetown Beautiful.”
I was remiss not to mention sooner the passing of Chief Kevin Nulty on March 14, 2022. Kevin served as Orangetown Chief of Police from 1997 until his retirement in 2019. As Deputy Town Attorney, I had the pleasure of working closely with the Chief for 23 years and knew, first-hand, just how much he loved his job. With his passing, we lost a true public servant and a gentleman. Rest in Peace Chief.
Respectfully,
