National Philanthropy Day - November 15th
|
|
National Philanthropy Day, or NPD, celebrates the charitable work that EVERYONE does to make a difference and create impact in their communities. Spread the NPDLove!
National Philanthropy Day is a special day set aside on the fifteenth of November. The purpose of this day is to recognize the great contributions of philanthropy—and those people active in the philanthropic community—to the enrichment of our world.
AFP Chicago will be celebrating at the 46th Annual Philanthropy Awards by recognizing the outstanding achievements of individuals, foundations and corporate philanthropists, fundraising volunteers, and fundraising executives who demonstrate high ethical standards and exemplify the philanthropic spirit of our great city.

AFP Chicago Annual Meeting
Six Degrees of Philanthropy
Union League Club of Chicago
65 West Jackson Boulevard, Chicago, IL 60604
Friday, December 2, 2022 | 8:00 - 10:30 AM
Six Degrees of Separation…Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. Whatever you prefer to call it, we can all recall a time (or many) of making a close connection with someone we’ve just met.
On Friday, December 2, you are very likely to discover Six Degrees of Philanthropy between you, a member, or an organization at AFP Chicago’s Annual Meeting. Share a morning with other like-minded individuals who dare to dream, connect, and change Chicagoland through the power of philanthropy and connectivity. Be there to create new partnerships.

Peer Mentoring’s Latest Cohort Selected
By Noelle Moore
Senior Executive Director, The Hospice and Palliative Foundation (HAP)
The AFP Chicago Peer Mentoring Committee is excited to announce the launch of the Fall 2022 Cohort. The protégés represent academic, arts, and civic engagement organizations across Chicago. Each has been paired with a mentor who has several years of professional fundraising experience and is committed to supporting the protégés through their career development over the next year. In making the matches, the Peer Mentoring Committee considers areas of professional expertise, career aspirations, and sector experience within Chicago’s diverse non-profit community. A Committee member is assigned to each protégé/mentor pair to provide additional resources and ensure a smooth partnership.
The Fall 2022 cohort members are:
- Aira Lheiz Aquino, Bottom Line (protégé) and Barbara Khalouf, Access Living (mentor)
- Karen Joy Dizon, Business and Professional People for the Public Interest (BPI) (protégé) and Terri Bruce, Arthroscopy Association of North America (mentor)
- Haley Hudler, Chicago Theological Seminary (protégé) and Jennifer Holmes, Rush University Medical Center (mentor)
- Amanda Owens (protégé) and Claire Ryan, Lyric Opera of Chicago (mentor)
- Sarah Hayley Owens Willig, Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University (protégé) and Kirsten Boyce, Campbell & Company (mentor)
- Kelsey Sappington (protégé) and John Greenhoe, The Confident Fundraiser (mentor)
The Peer Mentoring Committee is looking for AFP Chicago members to join our efforts to support the next generation of our profession by becoming a committee member. For more information, contact Christopher Chantson or Jennifer Dettloff, Committee Co-Chairs.
