Head's Holiday!
As you might have heard from your excited student, today in Chapel (shown above) John Packard called a Head’s Holiday. A modified schedule is available for your review.
Weekend of Nov. 4 - 6
Friday, Nov. 4 is a special abbreviated class schedule (8 - 11:25 a.m.) with games being played on this day. SATs are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 5. There are no classes or afternoon activities on Nov. 5.

Students may leave campus for a weekend leave after their last commitment on Nov. 4 and return on Nov. 6 by 8 p.m. Students should use REACH and choose "Nov. weekend" for their request.
Weekend of Nov. 12 - 13
Nov. 12-13 will be a Community Weekend. We have an early 8 a.m. start on Saturday to accommodate away games at Tabor Academy.
Thanksgiving Schedule and Vacation Transportation
On Nov. 19 classes will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude by 10:55 a.m. so students can make their way on vacation. Please review the 2022-2023 Transportation Options available for our students for vacation.

REACH Requests
We hope to provide some clarification on some of our different types of leave requests through REACH. There are a few requests that require a student to have an in-person check-in with a dean on campus for approval. They are as follows:

  • a leave that would require a student to return after check-in,
  • an overnight (boarders) or sleepover request (day students),
  • and any request that requires a missed obligation (class, afternoon activity, chapel, etc.).

All of these requests must be confirmed by 3:15 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Please encourage your student to put their requests in early and help us remind them to come into the Deans' Den for approval. We want to support various needs to go off campus, but following this protocol helps us keep everyone safe.

Halloween is coming to Brooks with the Alianza Latina Halloween Dance! In addition, there are a few shopping excursions and other fun activities planned. Check out the Weekend Bulletin for the schedule and times.
Academics & Arts
Fall Midterm Progress Reports
Earlier today, fall midterm progress reports were made available in OnBrooks in the Progress and Performance areas from parent/guardian account access. These progress reports include a brief advisor comment that reflects each student's work across campus in the first six weeks of the school year. Families with prior Brooks experience will notice that this is an unusual time for an advisor comment! We adjusted our schedule this year because of the early date of Family Weekend.

On these progress reports, you'll find an MOL grade for each class. This MOL grade (short for Managing One's Learning) counts for up to 10 percent of a student's overall average in the class and reflects performance in a variety of classroom behaviors and expectations as outlined by each teacher: homework completion, class participation and engagement, among others.

For assistance with OnBrooks and navigation/access to report cards, please contact Registrar Lisa Saunders.

Health & Wellness
B Well Challenge
Last week, the B Well wellness program challenged students to "Strive for Five." In this challenge, students were encouraged to consume five servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Those who met the challenge were entered to win a prize. Ten winners were announced in Chapel on Thursday (including Micah Dixon '26, below with his prize). Good work Brooks!
