Dr. Kathleen Reeves officially joined the Gold Foundation this month as the third President and CEO in the nonprofit’s history. In a letter to the Gold community, she wrote:

"Each of us has a role to play in this important mission. Whether you are a student or a clinician, whether you are a CEO or a patient, whether you are a donor or a dean, your unique perspective and input are valued. We welcome your contributions and passions to together make a difference during this challenging time.

I can think of no better job in the world than working with all of you to continue to bring the power of humanism to the center of healthcare."

Save the date for the 2024 Gold Humanism Summit: The Person in Front of You, taking place February 29 - March 2, in Atlanta, Georgia. This interprofessional, international event will be focused on igniting humanism to create the tangible changes necessary to heal the heart of healthcare. We hope you can participate!

We invite you to submit an abstract for a presentation (lecture, panel, workshop, poster) or artwork for our art gallery (physical and digital) and silent auction.

The Gold Foundation is pleased to announce the 2023-2024 Gold Humanism Scholars at the Harvard Macy Institute Program for Educators:

Looking for a human-centered read this summer? Check out our Gold Foundation Bookshop, which features many selections from the annual Gold Foundation Reading List for Compassionate Clinicians.

Each year, the Gold Foundation compiles this reading list for all who care about the human experience of illness, who care about caring in their role as a healthcare professional.

Each purchase supports both the Gold Foundation and independent bookstores.

If you have a suggestion for this year’s list, please email sbodziak@gold-foundation.org.

Support the Gold Humanism Honor Society with a donation of $200 or more, and we will send you a 20th Anniversary GHHS mug with your name on it.

This campaign is a special way to support GHHS, a wonderful group of more than 45,000 physicians and medical students who have helped sustain humanism in medicine for 20 years.

The goal of this prestigious award is to emphasize, reinforce and enhance the importance of humanistic qualities among medical school students and faculty in Canada.

Open to physicians, nurses and other members of the healthcare team who practice in Canada or practitioners and researchers in health professions education in Canada, the award acknowledges the ideals of humanism and patient-centered care within the Canadian healthcare community.
