FOR MASTERS SWIM COACHES
Motivating Your Swimmers

Ways we motivate masters swimmers. ~ Carol Nip

  • Races and Relays
  • Each lane “pick a set” at workout: distance, stroke, kick, drill, equipment
  • Someone brings food, to share or to “win”
  • Breakfast or coffee after workout
  • Public Recognition of a swimmer
  • Swag – caps, tee shirts, freebies
  • Point out where a few swimmers are on age group standings
  • Be the example, model how to dive, do butterfly, do a drill
  • Games: Sharks & Minnows with masters, anyone?
  • Birthday member swims 50 Fly while team splashes them on either side!

Happy Fall!

We hope you are doing well and your teams are back in the water and getting excited about all that is coming up. This month we have an upcoming webinar about Code of Conduct. There will not be a Coaches Webinar in December, but look for the next one in the new year. (Did you know you can see all of the webinars happening each month in one place? Keep up to date here!

Please let us know if there is anything you need!

A jam-packed hour to hear about the details, the nitty gritty - everything about flip turns with Coach Abbie Fish. Splendidly technical.

CERTIFICATION
Scholarships for Coaches

USMS has a 4 level coach certification program and Level 1 can now be taken online. The fee for the Level 1 course is $125, and Pacific Masters offers an 80% scholarship ($100) to USA swim coaches, lifeguards who work at a USAS or USMS club, and to those already coaching masters swimmers at their club. You do not have to hold a coaching position to apply. Plans for 2022 are in order and as Pacific Masters builds our base of coaches, we want you be be a part of this. Contact Pacific Masters Administrator, Chris Ottati, to apply.
